----------------------------------------------- LOADING NEW SOFTWARE INTO YOUR INSTRUMENT ----------------------------------------------- The following items are required to perform a 89x Instrument software update: (1) Computer with free serial port (preferably COM1 or COM2). (2) 890/891/892 instrument. (3) 891/892 Interface cabling: (p/n SE108-21) with Null Modem Adapter, (p/n SE108-DB25FN-01) (Both are included in the modem interface Kit: 891-157) 890 Cabling: SE108-70 cable plus 881-71 Null modem adapter. (4) 890/891/892 instrument update software disk. NOTES: - Procedure takes a couple minutes, so Screen savers should be disabled if they will occur before this. - If you are running DOS under Windows 3.x, you may need to exit Windows to run the Loader program reliably. An MSDOS window under Windows95 should run OK. Update Procedure: (1) Connect the cabling to the 890/891/892 instrument and the computer's serial port. (2) Copy the contents of this disk to a specified directory on your hard drive. (optional) This will speedup the update process. (3) Connect AC power to the 890/891/892 instrument. The 890/891/892 instrument should be displaying one of its menus on the instrument screen. For the 891/892: get into the "Network"area: (p5, netwk). Verify unit is set to 57600 baud (netwk, cfg, mod, baud). Return to main menu with the menu keys, then go to "p5". Press the "netwk" key then press the "snd" key. For the 890 Press the units left most button until you come to the Function Menu. Press the "load" key then press the "load" key in the Loading Menu. The unit will beep and attempt to connect to the PC. The Unit will look for a modem, if none is found, it will assume direct connection to a PC's serial port. The unit should then display the message "Waiting for Host". (4) Switch to the directory on the hard drive containing update file(s). METHOD 1: QUICK UPDATE (for up-dating firmware automatically -- recommended): Type "89x.bat". This batch file runs the xloader program to automatically load the firmware. METHOD 2: MANUAL UPDATE (for manually selecting which version to load.): Type "Xloader". Follow the menu presented to load Main code, Boot code ect..... Select Exit when update is finished. Both the PC's screen and the unit will display the page number and byte address being loaded. When PC indicates it is done, remove disk and cabling.Download Driver Pack
