1. The ACCTON PCI Network Adapters Testing Program - ACCTEST

The ACCTON Hardware Driver Disk includes a network testing program
called ACCTEST. Run this program to check if your adapter is properly
installed. Note that 1Step can only be run under DOS. The ACCTEST program
works for the following PCI LAN adapters:

        ---------------------------------------------
            Product Name Product Number
        ---------------------------------------------
          EtherDuo PCI EN1203
          Fast EtherCombo-TX PCI EN1207
          Fast EtherPair-TX PCI EN1207-TX
          Cheetah EN1207B-TX/EN1207C-TX
        ---------------------------------------------

This ACCTEST program performs the following tests on your adapter :

                 a. Configuration Test
                 b. I/O Test
                 c. ID Test
                 d. Internal Loopback Test
                 e. External Loopback Test
                 f. Interrupt Test
                 g. Network Function Test

2. Test Requirements

To run ACCTEST, you need at least two workstations, each with an
installed PCI Fast Ethernet or any ACCTON Ethernet Adapter.
You should run the program in both workstations, one after
the other. If you want to test 100Mbps Fastnet operation,
you must have at least two workstations each with an installed
EN1207(-TX/B-TX/C-TX) Adapter.

3. Running the ACCTEST Program

Insert the ACCTON EN1203, EN1207(-TX/B-TX/C-TX) Series PCI Network Adapter

Driver Diskette into drive A:, then type:

         A:\> ACCTEST <Enter>

----------------------------------------------------------------------

3.0. Each time you enter ACCTEST program, the program first finds
all Accton's PCI adapters on your PC. If your PC does not
support PCI BIOS, or there is no Accton's PCI adapter on your PC,
then the program will show you an error message. Otherwise,
ACCTEST will display information of all Accton's PCI
adapters (at most 4) on your PCI machine. Each adapter's
information consist of an adapter no., Ethernet address, IRQ used,
I/O port used, and a predefined medium type (AUTO or Auto-Negotiation,
which means media-type AUTO-sensing). You can use UP, DOWN arrow keys to
select the adapter for testing, or use RIGHT, LEFT arrow keys to select
     the media-type.
EN1203 PCI Ethernet adapter supports three media-types:

        1. AUTO
        2. TP
        3. BNC;

     while EN1207 PCI Fastnet adapter supports four media-types;
     they are:

        1. AUTO
        2. TP 100Mbps
        3. TP 10Mbps
        4. BNC 10Mbps;

and EN1207-TX, EN1207B-TX and EN1207C-TX Series has five kinds of medium types:

          1. Auto Negotiation
          2. TP 10Mbps
          3. TP 100Mbps
          4. TP 10Mbps Full Duplex
          5. TP 100Mbps Full Duplex

Finally, you must press ENTER to confirm the selected adapter before
entering the test procedure, or press ESC to exit the ACCTEST program.

3.1. After you select an adapter, the Testing Report showing the
result of each test conducted appears on your screen. The test
results are indicated by a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' remark.

3.2. This screen will present you with a Testing Report to indicate the
result of each test conducted. The test results will be indicated
by a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' remark.

There are three functional keys which can be used while executing the
ACCTEST.EXE program, they are

<F1> To reset all counters which report the real
                network status.

<F2> To toggle the network function test ON or OFF.

<ESC> To terminate and return to the Adapter-Selection Screen.

The real network status report on this ACCTEST.EXE program includes
TX count, RX count and two errors (CRC and ALG) are shown on the
Test Screen. The accumulated program Time and Performance are also
shown on the Test Screen.

After you press the <F2> key once, the network function test
enters into the 'ON' condition; that is, the TX count is going to
increase quickly (for a single station). And if there is more than one
station running ACCTEST with network function test 'ON' on your
network system (multiple stations), then the RX count will also increase
quickly to reflect the real network traffic.

When any diagnostic test results in a 'FAIL' remark, your screen
will change to give you a description of the malfunction, and also give
you some advice on how to solve the problem.

4. Test Fail Messages

Possible results and suggested solutions for the diagnostic tests
are listed below:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
      Test Result Suggested Solution
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Configuration 1. Check PCI BIOS setup about PCI
   Test Fail adapter .
                        2. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
                           Technology Corporation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I/O Test Fail 1. Be sure the parameters for the PCI
adapter in BIOS setup are correct.
                        2. Check if you are running EMM386.EXE.
If your EMM386.EXE version si earlier
than 4.49, it can not properly handle
DWORD accesses and may cause the I/O
                           Test to fail.
                        3. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
                           Technology Corporation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
ID Test Fail 1. ID checksum error.
                        2. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
                           Technology Corporation
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Internal Loopback 1. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
   Test Fail Technology Corporation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
External Loopback 1. Check your cables, connectors
Test Fail and terminators (coaxial cables).
                        2. Check if you have selected the
                           right medium type.
                        3. Check if you are using a crossover
cable. If you use crossover cable,
you may not pass the external loopback
test, yet you can bypass this test just
                           by pressing the ENTER key.
                        4. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
                           Technology Corporation.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Interrupt Test 1. Check the IRQ setting in the PCI
   Fail configuration of your computer.
                        2. Check your cables, connectors
                           and terminators (coaxial cables).
                        3. Check your BIOS configuration
                           Setting, re-setup your Adapter.
                        4. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
                           Technology Corporation.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Network Function 1. Check cables, connectors, and
   Test : board connections.
Receive Test Fail 2. Re-install the adapter board.
(Rx packet count 3. Reset the stations and run the
not running) ACCTEST program in various
                           sequences to decide which
                           adapter board is defective.
                        4. Contact your dealer or ACCTON
