In This Release 
================

Intel(R) EMGD is designed specifically to support the unique GRAPHICS 
DRIVER requirements of embedded applications for Intel(R) embedded 
chipset-based platforms with integrated graphics capability.  

This release contains components for:
1) EMGD_1_8_GOLD_ALL_xxxx.exe (x represent the driver build version):- 
   Windows* XP, Linux and Firmware package.     
2) RELNOTES.txt


Supported Chipsets
==================
Target system must contain one of the following Intel Chipsets/Processors:

              Intel(R) Atom processor E6xx (B1 stepping)
              Intel(R) US15 System Controller Hub (Poulsbo).
              Intel(R) US15WP/WPT System Controller Hub (eMenlow XL).

Please check with your system provider to determine the Intel Chipset 
used in your system. 


Supported Operating Systems
===========================
This version of driver supports the following OS or distributions:
    - Microsoft* Windows XP Professional* SP3

    - MeeGo* IVI 1.2, kernel version 2.6.37, Xorg 1.9, Libva 1.0.12, Mesa 7.9
    (For more detailed information, please refer to the User Guide).

    - Fedora 14* (Timesys image), kernel version 2.6.35, Xorg 1.9, Libva 1.0.12, Mesa 7.9
    (The source is distributed from Timesys*. For more detailed information, 
     please refer to the User Guide).
 

IMPORTANT: Features/ Limitations/ Known Issues
==============================================

Features:
=========
This release contains the following features/ limitations/ known issues. 
Please report any sighting through the Intel® Premier Support process.

    - This version of EMGD is targeted at the B1 releases of E6xx, and fixes
      most known display sightings (e.g., flickering). 

      Please refer to the white paper (pending post) titled:
      "Displays Characterization on Intel Atom(TM) Processor E6xx Series (B1-Stepping)"
      for more details available at: 
      http://edc.intel.com/Software/Downloads/EMGD/ website.

    - Libva version 1.0.12 is supported to enable video acceleration capabilities:

    - EPOG is supported on US15 (on BLDK) only.

    - The driver supports internal LVDS, SDVO, DDC, EDID (detection), 2D, 
      D3D (DirectX* 9.0C), OpenGL 2.0 (XP), OpenGL 2.1 (Linux), OpenVG 1.1 (Linux),
      OpenGL-ES 1.1 and 2.0, hardware video decode and Overlay frame buffer alpha 
      blending capabilities.
    
    - The driver is pre-configured to turn on SDVO as PRIMARY and Internal LVDS as 
      SECONDARY Display.
      Internal LVDS default resolution as 1366 x 768 for E6xx and 10x7 for US15. 

    - The driver supports Power Management (Standby and Hibernate) on SDVO and LVDS 

    - MPlayer and Gstreamer are the players used for video decode in Linux. Please
      refer to the User Guide for more detailed information.

    - Video encode through USB camera capability. Setup instruction is 
      provided in the User Guide.

    - Support OKI* ML7213* IOH (Input-Output Hub) with dRGB and LVDS output. Support 
      BT656 input for camera.

    - Support for Chrontel* CH7317B VGA adapter cards.

    - Support of PNG format for splashscreen in EFI boot mode.

    - Support of Adobe* Flash* 10.1 on F14* Firefox* 3.6 and Meego* 1.2 with Chromium* V11. 
      We recommend usage of Chromium* V11 on Meego* 1.2 for hardware acceleration. 
      User will need to downgrade the default Chromium* v12 bundled from Meego* 1.2 to v11. 
      No hardware acceleration on Adobe* flash* support on Chromium* v12 in this release.

    - Support Framebuffer Blend Overlay in windowsless mode.

Limitations:
============
    - Windows* 7 XPDM is not supported in this version of the driver. For
      more info about Windows* 7/Windows* Embedded Standard 7 support, please 
      refer to Intel(R) EMGD 1.8 for Windows* 7/Windows* Embedded Standard 7 release 
      package.

    - No EPOG support on E6xx platform.

Known Issues:
=============
    - Please refer to the "Spec Update" of the driver release for more 
      detailed information about the driver known sightings and possible
      resolutions. The "Spec Update" can be obtained from IBL/CDI.

Linux: FAQ
==========

Q: In MeeGo 1.2, I'm getting errors related to libva and missing files.
A: Check that your environment variable 'LIBVA_DRIVERS_PATH' is not set. If it is, unset it.
e.g., `unset LIBVA_DRIVERS_PATH`

Q: When installing GStreamer in MeeGo, I get the 'fedora repo not found' error.
A: Make sure you decompressed the files from the / directory.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
