This release has three different installers designed for different purposes based on customer needs. basic The "basic" install only has components to enable commercial BD players like PowerDVD or WinDVD to use Broadcom hardware to decode the video stream. This install is OK for production release. file The "file" release includes the same components as the "basic" installer plus additional components to allow DirectShow based players to use Broadcom hardware. The decoder filter included has a merit of MERIT_DO_NOT_USE. This install is OK for production release evaluation The "evaluation" filter includes the same components as the "file" installer plus a DirectShow player, CyberLink demux and Broadcom MP4 demux. The decoder filter and MP4 demux have merits of MERIT_PREFERRED. ************************************************************* Do NOT use this install for production use. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
