ACCTEST Overview
================
Your Driver Diskette includes a network testing
program called ACCTEST. Run this program to check if
your adapter is properly installed.
Tests Performed by ACCTEST
==========================
a. I/O Test
b. ID Test
c. RAM Test
d. Internal Loopback Test
e. External Loopback Test
f. Interrupt Test
g. Network Function Test
Test Requirements
=================
1. Two workstations, each with an installed VESA-bus adapter or
any Accton Ethernet adapter.
2. You should run the program (ACCTEST) in both workstations,
one after the other.
Running the ACCTEST Program
===========================
1. Insert Driver Diskette into your floppy drive (A: or B:), and
run the ACCTEST program using the following syntax.
D:\>ACCTEST [/Q:x] [/I:yyy] [/R:zzzz] [/M:w]
where:
D: Drive (A: or B:)
/Q:x where x is the adapter's IRQ. Allowable values include
2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 and 15. Default IRQ is 3
/I:yyy where yyy is the adapter's I/O base address.
Allowable values include 300, 320, 340, 360
Default I/O base is 300
/R:zzzz where zzzz is the adapter's Shared-RAM address.
Allowable values include C000, C400, C800, CC00,
D000, D400, D800, DC00. Default shared RAM address is D000
/M:w where w is the Media type. Allowable values include the
the following:
w=1 for UTP
w=2 for AUI
w=3 for coax (Default)
!Important Note!
You may ignore the optional parameters if
you're using the default adapter configuration. Thus,
to run ACCTEST, simply type ACCTEST and press <Enter>.
2. While the ACCTEST program is running, a Testing Report showing
the result of each test conducted appears onscreen. Test results
are indicated by a "PASS" or "FAIL" remark.
3. The last test conducted by this program is the
network function test. When this test is running,
the screen also displays the Node ID, the number of
packets received (Rx Count) and the number
of packets transmitted (Tx Count). The Rx Count and the Tx count
reflect the real network traffic.
4. The ACCTEST program automatically checks the error rate when
performing the Network Function Test. If the error rate is too
high, the screen displays a 'FAIL' remark. And for each 'FAIL'
remark on the Testing Report Screen, the display also includes a
description of this malfunction and suggested the best solutions
to you.
5. To terminate the ACCTEST program, please press the <ESC> key and
return to the DOS command mode.
List of 'FAIL' Messages
=======================
Test result: I/O Test Fail
Possible Cause/Suggested Solution:
1. Check for I/O base conflict between your adapter
and host PC.
2. Contact your dealer or Accton Technology Corporation.
Test result: ID Test Fail
Possible Cause/Suggested Solution:
1. ID checksum error.
2. Contact your dealer or Accton Technology Corporation.
Test result: RAM Test Fail
Possible Cause/Suggested Solution:
1. Contact your dealer or Accton Technology Corporation
Test result: Internal Loopback
Possible Cause/Suggested Solution:
1. Check hardware connection.
2. Contact your dealer or Accton Technology Corporation.
Test result: Network Function Test
Receive Test Fail (Rx packet count not running)
Possible Cause/Suggested Solution:
1. No response is received
2. If you are the first workstation, please wait for
the other workstations to start this program. If test
still results to a FAIL remark, check all cable
connections.
3. Re-install the adapter and run ACCTEST in
various sequences to decide which adapter is defective.
4. Contact your dealer or Accton Technology Corporation.
Test result: Errors too high!
Possible Cause/Suggested Solution:
1. Please check cables, connectors and board connections.
2. If adapter failure persists, contact your dealer
or Accton Technology Corporation.
