How to install Realtek LAN driver in Windows 98 Second Edition
==============================================================

1. Insert the "Driver and Utility" CD to CDROM/DVDROM device.
2. Double click [My Computer], double click [Control Panel],
   double click [System].
3. Click on [Device Manager] tab.
4. Click on [Refresh] button.
5. System will find new hardware "Realtek RTL 8139(A/B/C/8130) PCI Fast Ether NIC" or "PCI Ethernet Controller"
    It depends on does OS can reconize this hardware.
6. Click on [Next] twice.
7. Please select "Specify a location:" only, and click [Browse...] to select CDROM drive:(example D:)\LAN\WIN98
    , then click [OK] to confirm driver location
8. Click [Next] three times to start LAN driver install
9. If system request LAN Driver location, it locate in CDROM drive:\LAN\WIN98
10. if system request you insert "Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM", click [OK] and select the Windows 98 
    Second Edition source to "c:\windows\options\cabs" for Reovery CD user. (or you need to insert "Windows 98
    Second Edition" CD to CDROM device, and select source to CDROM drive)
11. Click [OK] to start copy driver from Windows 98 Second Edition source.
12. Click [Finish] button, and restart system to finish LAN driver install.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
