Network Scanning
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issues
======

1. Error message "SK4" is displayed when you press an Icon in the Scan
   Main menu.
   - If the Templates or Address Book grow too large, they are
compacted automatically when the controller starts up. Please wait
for a while and retry the operation.
   - If the Scan tab does not recover from this status, please reboot
     the controller.

2. Error message "SK4" is displayed when you try to search recipients
from the GL-1010 Address Book on the User Search screen or from the
   Group Select screen.
   - If you are restoring backed-up Scan Templates or Address Book,
it may take several minutes before getting ready to scan. The
time required for restoring depends on the size of the backup file.
Please wait for a while and retry the operation.
   - If the Scan tab does not recover from this status, please reboot
     the controller.

3. Please see Toshiba TopAccess section about LDAP search issue.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Both Public and Private Templates' passwords can be substituted by
the copier administrator password if it is set.
This also applies for Fax mailbox passwords.

2. If the Templates, Address Book or Mail Box grow too large, it may
take several minutes (or fail) to backup/restore.
To avoid this, please delete unnecessary information.

3. If the Templates, Address Book or Mail Box grow too large, they are
compacted automatically when the controller starts up. This may take
several minutes depending on the data size.

4. Backup of Templates, Address Book or Mail Box may fail if you are
using some minor versions of Internet Explorer 5.0. Please use a
different version to do the backup.

6. Sending files to the controller when restoring Template, Address Book
or Mail Box fails if the file path or file name contains spaces. To
avoid the error, delete the spaces before sending it.

7. If text in TopAccess pages is not displayed properly, try the
following settings in your Web browser.
	- Auto Select Encoding: OFF
	- Select proper language for encoding
These settings are found under the [View] menu in Internet
   Explorer 5.

8. If you click on the download link "Backup Filename" to backup Mailbox
using Internet Explorer, HTTP source code shows up instead.
To backup correctly, right-click on the link and then select
"Save Target As ... " from the drop-down menu.

9. Below is the table of tested LDAP servers:

Novell NDS eDirectory 8.5.1 on Windows NT 4.0 Server
Netscape Directory Server 4.11 on Windows NT 4.0 Server
iPlanet Directory Server 5.0 on Windows NT 4.0 Server
Microsoft Active Directory on Windows 2000 Server
Lotus Domino R5.0.8 on Windows NT 4.0 Server

   Note:
   - LDAPv3 level server is recommended with GL-1010.
   - User authentication and SSL are not supported. Controller uses
     anonymous access to LDAP servers.
   - Requires "cn" and "mail" as return attributes from LDAP server.
   - Ignores extended attributes such as language.

   * Please see the manual for more help.

10. LDAP may return unexpected results when using some special
characters (listed below) as search base or search keys.
To search them correctly, please insert backslash(\) in front of
    each character.

    ( : left-parenthesis
    ) : right-parenthesis
    \ : backslash
    * : asterisk

11. If LDAP search from Lotus Domino returns unexpected result, please
    check Lotus Domino server configuration.
To enable partial search, please set 0 as minimum characters for
    wildcard search.
Please refer Notes Administration Help for detail.

12. If LDAP search from NDS returns no result, please check the NDS
    configuration.
An existing NDS attribute of the Object should be mapped to LDAP
"cn" attribute. For example, "uniqueID" of User Object can be
    mapped to LDAP "cn" attribute.
Please refer to NDS eDirectory Administrator's guide for details.

Scan/Fax to File
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issues
======

1. Win9x/Me clients may fail to open a file if the folder or file names
contain characters not supported by the OS.

2. Invalid characters in a document name (TSI name in case of Fax)
(those which can not be used in Window's folder/file names)
will be replaced by the underscore '_' character.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scan/Fax to TWAIN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

e-STUDIO GL TWAIN Driver has been tested to work with the following
applications:

- Adobe Acrobat 4.0/4.05/5.0
- Adobe PhotoShop 5.5/6.0
- Eastman Software Imaging Pro 2.5
- Eastman Software Imaging for Windows95/98/Me/2000
- ScanSoft OmniPage Pro 10.0
- ScanSoft TextBridge Pro 9.0/Millennium

To use the GL TWAIN Driver for the applications listed below,
please configure the driver as described for each application.

1. Imaging for WinNT does not support a TWAIN interface.

2. Imaging for Win95 does not support mixed DPI/Size document.

3. TextBridge
   In Scanner setup wizard,
   1. Select "Show TWAIN Interface"
   2. Prepare a single page document before the basic scan test or skip
      the test altogether.

4. OmniPage
Open Caere Scan Manager in the Control Panel, and configure TWAIN
Scanner Settings in the Scanner property as follows.
   1. Select Yes in "Show TWAIN settings before scanning"
   2. Select Yes in "Support TWAIN batch scanning"

Issues
======

1. Win9x/Me client may fail to open a folder or document if it contains
characters not supported characters by the OS. Such folders or
   documents are shown as password-protected.

2. Invalid characters in a document name (those which can not be used
in Window's folder/file names) will be replaced by the underscore '_'
   character.

- Cannot Find the GL-1010
    Problem Description:
Cannot find GL-1010 using the Search button.
    Corrective Action:
Confirm that the user workstation and GL-1010 are properly
connected to NetBIOS network. Make sure that the selected
workgroup name is correct. If the GL-1010 controller is out of
the subnet in which the user's workstation exists, enable access
to the GL-1010 via NetBIOS over TCP/IP by specifying the GL-1010
machine name and IP address in WINS server or lmhosts file in
the user's workstation. Then try entering the GL-1010 machine
name directly in the "Machine Name" field.

- Cannot Access the TWAIN Folder
    Problem Description:
Cannot access the \\GL-1010\GL_TWAIN folder from Windows Explorer.
    Corrective Action:
This network folder contains Scan to TWAIN documents and can
be accessed only using the GL TWAIN Driver.

- The TWAIN Driver Dialog Does Not Appear
    Problem Description:
Initiated the TWAIN image acquisition mode from an
application, but the TWAIN driver dialog does not appear.
    Corrective Action:
The TWAIN Driver dialog may be hidden behind other windows.
Minimize all other windows to locate the TWAIN Driver dialog.
If the dialog is not found, enable the "Show UI" feature of the
	TWAIN Driver in the application.

- Cannot Acquire Document
    Problem Description:
Cannot acquire document using the TWAIN driver.
    Corrective Action:
The GL TWAIN Driver is carefully tested with several TWAIN
compliant applications. Some applications need to be
configured in order to connect to the GL TWAIN Driver. See
supported applications and configuration tips in this file.

- B/W Image Reversed
    Problem Description:
Image acquired but the black and white of the image is reversed.
    Corrective Action:
Some applications may handle interpretation of Black and White pixel
notation incorrectly. Enable the "Reverse Image" option from the
	application and try again.

- Cannot Acquire Multi-Page Document
    Problem Description:
Cannot acquire multi-page document from application.
    Corrective Action:
Some applications do not support multi-page scan from a TWAIN
interface or need to be configured to acquire multi-page images.
See supported applications and configuration tips in this file.

- Cannot Open a Password Protected Folder or Document
    Problem Description:
A Folder or Document is password protected and you don't know
	which password to apply.
    Corrective Action:
The Folder password is the same as the corresponding Template
Group's password. Document passwords are the same as the
corresponding Template passwords. If the group's password changes,
the corresponding TWAIN Folder password changes also. On the other
hand, document passwords remain the same as the Template
passwords when the document is scanned originally, even if the
	template password changes subsequently.

For full documentation, press the Help button or the F1 key while
running the GL TWAIN Driver.

Scan/Fax to Email/iFax
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issues
======

1. The maximum size of a document is 20MB.

2. If the size of the Email recipient list exceeds approximately 2KB,
the recipients are listed in the message body instead of in mail header.

3. Not all Email client applications support MIME partial messages.
Please make sure of your recipient support before sending fragmented
   messages. (Scan to Email)

4. Microsoft Outlook Express may fail to combine fragmented messages if
the number of messages is too large (several hundred). Please select
larger fragment size and resend the messages. (Scan to Email)

5. If mail's subject is too long, it is moved to the message body.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scan/Fax to TopAccessComposer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issues
======

1. Regardless of the resolution at the time of scanning/faxing,
scanned/faxed images in TopAccessComposer will have 600 DPI resolutions.

2. 8bit characters (> 0x80) are not supported in TopAccessComposer's folder
name. They will be replaced by the underscore '_' character.

3. Invalid characters in a folder/document name (see the list below)
will be replaced by the underscore '_' character.

For a folder name, following characters can not be used (surrounded by ()):
   (/) (>) (<) (?) (*) (&) (:) (;) (|) (") (') (=) (,) (#) (%) (.) ([)
   (]) ({) (})

For a file name, following characters can not be used (surrounded by ()):
   (/) (>) (<) (?) (*) (&) (:) (;) (|) (") (') (=) (,) (\) (%) (.) ([)
   (]) ({) (})
