TOSHIBA e-STUDIO28-45 GL-1010 Controller

April 17, 2003

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
General
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Slider Control does not work properly under Windows 95. The Windows 95 OSR2 release does not come shipped with the latest common controls update. As of this writing, the common controls update could be obtained from Microsoft at the following location:

	ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/40COMUPD.EXE

NOTE: There is an official Y2K update from Microsoft for Win95 that will automatically update the affected .dll. If you have not done so, run this update.

2. F5 accelerator key does not work properly under Windows 95. (Refer to issue 1 above)

3. Selecting PORT SETTINGS for an IPP port results in the following error message: "Failure Creating Properties Sheets". (Refer to issue 1 above)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Please do not use the underscore ("_") character in the device (controller) name if Internet Explorer Security Patch MS01-55 (Q316112) is installed in your client workstations. You may encounter problems in TopAccess.

Microsoft states:
"After you install security patch MS01-55 for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0, you may encounter the following problems:
Session variables are lost.
Session state is not maintained between requests.
Cookies are not set on the client system.

NOTE : These problems can also occur after you install a more recent patch that includes the fix that is provided in security patch MS01-55.

CAUSE
Security patch MS01-55 prevents servers with improper name syntax from setting cookies names. Domains that use cookies must use only alphanumeric characters ("-" or ".") in the domain name and the server name. Internet Explorer blocks cookies from a server if the server name contains other characters, such as an underscore character ("_").
Because ASP session state and session variables rely on cookies to function, ASP cannot maintain session state between requests if cookies cannot be set on the client."

2. When installing the client software on a Windows 95 system, the InstallShield requires Winsock 2.0 to be present. As of this writing, the Winsock 2.0 package could be obtained from Microsoft at the following location:

	http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/bin/W95ws2setup.exe

3. GL-1010's network detection mechanism will try to find the token-ring interface first. If not found, it will use the on-board ethernet interface. The network services are bound to the found interface.

If a supported token ring interface card is present, it will be used. The ethernet interface is effectively disabled in this case. To use the ethernet interface, the token ring interface card must not be installed.

The proper procedure for switching GL-1010 over to a token-ring LAN is:
	1. install the supported token ring card in the designated PCI slot
	2. power up the controller
	3. initiate network detection by pressing the "Factory Default" button at the LCD panel after admin login
	4. restart the controller

The proper procedure for switching GL-1010 over to an Ethernet LAN from token ring LAN is:
	1. remove the token ring card
	2. power up the controller
	3. initiate network detection by pressing the "Factory Default" button at the LCD panel after admin login
	4. restart the controller

4. The IPP Port Monitor is removed when SC-2 software is uninstalled. After installing the client software on a system that already has the SC-2 Client software installed, and then removing the SC-2 Client software, the IPP Port Monitor is removed as well. This results from the fact the both sets of Client software (SC-2 and GL-1010) use some common components. After removing the SC-2 Client software, go to Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs and perform the "Repair" option for the GL-1010 Client. The IPP Port Monitor will be re-installed.

5. The Toshiba SC-2 and GL-1010 software can be installed on the same workstation and they will function properly. However, the SC-2 Admin's Client software version 1.0 or 1.1 must NOT be used to administer a GL-1010 controller. It may result in corrupting the controller software. This issue has been addressed in SC-2 version 2.x. Please use TopAccess to administer the GL-1010 controller.

6. Running the Modify Installation option after a software component was removed manually does not work. If a software component such as a printer is deleted manually and the installation is re-run using the Modify option, the missing software component will not be reinstalled. In a case such as this, the Repair option must be used. In the future, do not remove components manually but instead use the Add/Remove Programs option from the Windows Control Panel.

7. During installation, Invalid Port is displayed and the installation does not complete. An error message reports that the port you entered during the installation is invalid and the installation cannot complete. Before running the installation, ensure that you can access the controller device by browsing the Network for it. It may be that you do not have sufficient network rights to access the device. Consult your Network Administrator.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Controller Update
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Prior performing an OS Update, please set the Copier's "Auto Power Saving" feature to DISABLED or at least 30 minutes. This will prevent the copier from going into the sleep mode during the OS update process. In case the copier does go into the sleep mode while the OS file copy is still in progress, please do not touch the "START" hard key on the copier to wake it up, as this will cancel the OS Update operation in progress.
The same applies to the copier's "Auto Power Off" setting which must be DISABLED or set to at least 30 minutes as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Macintosh Printing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issues
======

1. When printing from Adobe Photo Shop 5.5, no file is generated. Disable 8-bit printing in Print Setup and change encoding to ASCII (not BINARY).

2. When selecting staple positions for a print job, if the finisher being used is an MJ-1011 (Hanging Finisher) then the only valid staple position is Top Left. If any other staple position is selected when using this finisher, the request for the staple function will be ignored.

3. The "collate" setting will not be saved when saving the printer default setup.

4. When using the "Private Print" option the following apply in regards to the DIN number:

If you enter a number that is less than five digits when you send the job to the printer you must release the job by entering leading zeroes. For example, if you enter "5" as your private print DIN, you must enter "00005" at the copier LCD to release the job.

If you enter any leading "0" (zeroes) and the total length of the DIN number exceeds five digits they will be ignored. For example, if you enter "0012345" as your private print DIN, you must enter "12345" at the copier LCD to release the job.

If you use a number greater than 99999 which is the greatest number using five digits, the DIN number will default back to 99999. For example, if you enter "100000" as your private print DIN, you must enter "99999" at the copier LCD to release the job.

5. All stapling options are displayed even though some can not be used. For example, you can select "Portrait A4 Left Hand Side" stapling even though you are using A3. As you can not staple on the long edge of the A3 your job will not be stapled. However, the job WILL get printed.

6. Mac OS-X - Mac PPD.
Send “3-pages” using MS word, Proof print and collated selected. After one copy of "3-pages" MS word prints out, select Proof print job on the copier front panel, edit for 2 copies then release the job. The two copies print out on uncollected.

7. MAC OS-X - Mac PPD.
Open 4-pages Letter size/Landscape MS Word file and send to GL-1020 in Booklet mode (Letter for Booklet paper Size / Left to Right or Right to Left Layout). The output is in reverse direction.
Set Left to Right ---> Output on Right to Left
Set Right to Left ---> Output on Left to Right

8. MAC OS-X - Mac PPD.
Mac PPD does not support print to Tab paper but it still displays in Paper Feed screen (Mac OS-X), General/Paper source (Mac OS-9). Send Tab paper job to GL-1020. The controller prompts for manual feed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unix Printing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. When selecting staple positions for a print job, if the finisher being used is an MJ-1011 (Hanging Finisher) then the only valid staple position is Top Left (staple=1). If any other staple position is selected (2-8) when using this finisher, the request for the staple function will be ignored.

2. All stapling options are displayed even though some can not be used. For example, you can select "Portrait A4 Left Hand Side" stapling even though you are using A3. As you can not staple on the long edge of the A3 your job will not be stapled. However, the job will get printed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toshiba GL DocMon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. No Beep Sound for Notification Popup in Win95. Under Windows 95, if you have a sound card, you may not hear an audible notification. Go to Control Panel - Sounds and register a sound for the "Exclamation" Windows event.

2. Installation reports that Winsock2 is not installed GL-DocMon. As of this writing, the Winsock2 package could be obtained from Microsoft at the following location:

	http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/bin/W95ws2setup.exe

3. Slider Control does not work properly under Windows 95. The Windows 95 OSR2 release does not come shipped with the latest common controls update. The updated common controls must be obtained from Microsoft. As of this writing, the common controls update is available at the following location:

	ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/40COMUPD.EXE

4. When a document is deleted, the Controller will stop transmitting its pages to the copier. However, the copier will finish printing the pages that reside in its memory. For small documents, the document may print in its entirety.

5. On machines that do not have the IPX/SPX protocol installed but had Netware Client installed previously, the Controller discovery option over IPX may be enabled and checked. Because the protocol is not installed, this may take a few minutes before it stops the discovery. Please turn off the IPX discovery by clicking the "Advanced" button and unchecking the IPX option. If the Controller has been discovered over TCP/IP, the IPX discovery can be stopped at any time by pushing the "Stop Discovery" button.

6. On occasion, when a multiple copies job is sent to the controller from MS Word, the Print Queue reports the number of copies as one (1). Please turn off the "Collate" option in MS Word but leave it selected in the Printer Driver.

7. There is a known issue with Novell Client version 4.7 where the Controller discovery over IPX/SPX will fail. Novell has confirmed that this is a NetWare client version 4.7 issue. The defect number assigned by Novell to this problem is 000226812 and the details are available on the Novell web site (www.novell.com). Since then, Novell released an updated version of the Novell Client for Windows NT, version 4.71e, which solves this problem. Alternately, you can update to the latest Novell Client for Windows NT/2000 (recommended).

8. When DocMon is installed on a PC where the GL-1020 or SC-2 DocMon is already installed, the GL-1010 DocMon will replace the DocMon installed by the GL-1020 or SC-2.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Printer Drivers
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Multiple Copies Handled As A Single Copy When Using Microsoft Word 95. There is a known Microsoft Word 95 application issue where when a user prints a multiple copy document using Word 95, the copy count is not properly reported. Also, when a proof print job is sent, all the copies are printed in the sample set. And another issue is a multiple copy staple job will process having all the copies stapled together as one. This occurs when Word 95's collate option is used. Word 95 issues all copies of the job as if they were a single copy of the job. Microsoft has resolved this problem in later versions of Microsoft Word. Do not select collate in Word 95. Rather, use the collate option in the GL-1010 printer driver.

2. Printing with the following parameters:
	Select the Saddlestitch option
The Bypass feeder is selected as a source for the first page
The paper size is LETTER, A4 or B5 paper
The rest of the pages are to print from another cassette, say LETTER-R
The sheet(s) are fed in the LT, A4 or B5 direction
In this case paper jams may occur. To resolve this problem, delete the print job and submit it again. This time however, ensure that the sheets are fed in the LT-R, A4-R or B5-R direction.

There are three ways one could avoid this problem:
a) Ask your Service Technician to set Code 08+658 to 0 (disabled) in which case the user will always be prompted for paper in the appropriate direction.
b) Do not leave any paper in the Bypass feeder in which case the user will always be prompted for paper in the appropriate direction.
c) Position paper in the Bypass feeder in the LT-R, A4-R or B5-R direction in which case the paper will be automatically fed and the print job will complete with no incident.

3. In MS Word, when the [Allow A4/Letter Paper Resizing] checkBox (under Tools->Options->Print) is checked, it will change papersize from A4 to Letter if the Regional Setting of the system is US English, or from Letter to A4 if the Regional Setting of the system is a European Language. This may produce some unexpected output for users who are not aware of this option since the checkbox is checked by default.

4. Page prints with overlay but with an extra image on the left page. Please do not create an overlay that spans more than one page.

5. The message "Class Not Found" may pop up if the LPT1 port has been deleted and a test page is printed. Go to the Control Panel, "Printers" folder. Select a printer and choose "Properties". In the "Ports" tab, select "Add Port". Select "Local Port" and click the "New Port" button. Enter "LPT1:" and click OK.

6. When printers are installed on NT workstations using the Add Printer method, some fonts are missing from the font substitution table. Please install the printer drivers using the Setup program in the Client CD.

7. For Postscript printing, if the document filename contains a "{" or "(" it should be followed by a corresponding "}" or ")". If this condition is not met, the document will not be printed. An example of a valid document name is: my(file).doc or my{file}.doc. An example of an invalid name is: my{file.doc or my(file.doc.

8. Some PDF files do not print or do not print correctly using the Postscript driver and Acrobat. Please ensure you have the latest Windows OS Service Pack, Acrobat (Reader) 4.05 or later and use the default settings of the Postscript driver. Check the "Use PostScript Passthrough" option. By default, this option is on. If the output does not improve, try turning on the "Print as Image" setting with the Postscript Passthrough setting turned off. Generally, the Postscript Passthrough function should be used with special documents or application because some applications create Postscript by themselves for one or more of the following reasons:
a) An application originally stores data file in Postscript format. In this case, there is no reason to use the PS driver function. For example, Adobe Illustrator.
b) An application uses a special function of its own when outputs in Postscript. For example, Adobe Photoshop.
c) An application creates cleaner Postscript than the general driver. For example, Adobe Acrobat.

9. Using PCL6 driver to print from Adobe Photoshop 4.0 with the Halftoning option set to Line Art or Fine, the output is a distorted image.

10. When printing with N-in-1 in Kodak Imaging Pro Version 2.5, there are cases in which a document is printed out as a blank page. Please use Kodak Imaging Pro 2.6 and ensure that all the patches are installed.

11. Using the PSL3 Driver in Windows NT or Windows 2000 printing as negative image does not work correctly. The Negative option inverts only the outside border of the image. However, if the "Use Postscript Passthrough" is checked, the image will print correctly. By default, this option is on.

12. All printer drivers. Overlays in Windows NT/2000 cannot be created in the user mode but only if the user has "Administrator" rights on their PC. If that is not the case, the following message is displayed: "Overlay can only be created by a member of Administrator group."

13. Printing from Adobe Acrobat using the PSL3 driver. Borders for N-up functionality cannot be supported with the "Use Postscript Passthrough" option enabled.

14. Printing from Adobe Acrobat using the PSL3 driver. Overlay creation cannot be supported.

15. Printing certain documents from Adobe Acrobat in Windows NT using the PSL3 driver. Click on File>Print>Properties and select the "Quality" tab. Check the "Negative" option and click OK twice to print the document. The result is a negative image with no readable data. Click on File>Print>Properties and select the "Quality" tab. Click on the Postscript Settings button and uncheck the "Use Postscript Passthrough" option and click OK three times to print the document. The document will print correctly.

16. When a printer driver is installed on a Windows NT, 2000 or XP workstation by pointing to the controller device and double-clicking on the printer icon, the printer still resides in the controller. Therefore, when selecting Start>Settings>Printers>Printer Properties>Options>Use Bidirectional Communication the Dynamic Update process occurs but the retrieved configuration is not saved because the user is not authorized to change the printer's settings in the controller. Please use one of the following alternate methods of installing the printer driver(s):
a) Install the printer drivers from the Client CD-ROM
b) Install the printer drivers from TopAccess using the Install Software option (assuming the system administrator uploaded the drivers onto the controller)
c) Install the printer drivers on a Windows workstation or file server, make them shared and enable the Bidirectional Communication. Subsequently, download the printer drivers from this PC onto the other workstations
d) Copy the installation software from Client CD-ROM to a network shared folder and then install from that folder

17. Under the following conditions the controller will block or cease processing print jobs:
a) The selected cassette is inappropriate for the job (wrong paper size, media type)
b) The controller determines that another cassette is appropriate
c) The alternate cassette is out of paper
To remedy this issue:
a) Change cassette selection
b) Select appropriate cassette
c) Add paper

18. The printers do not appear in the network when searching for printers in a Windows 2000 server. The printers should be published in the Windows 2000 Active Directory to be available for search. This can be done in two ways:
a) If the Client CD is used to install the printer, make sure that the "List in the Directory" checkbox on the printer's "Sharing" tab is checked during installation. It can also be changed after installation.
b) If a printer driver is installed by automatic download, it should be added to the Active Directory by using the "Active Directory Users and Computers" administrative tool on the Windows 2000 print server. Before doing this, please make sure that at least Service Pack 1 is installed on the print server otherwise this operation will fail. When uninstalling or deleting a printer, a user should make sure that corresponding entries in Active Directory are also deleted.

19. When the drivers are installed on an NT server through the InstallShield (SETUP.EXE), the server must be rebooted before the drivers can be downloaded to an NT Workstation/Client successfully.

20. When the Agfa Manager component of the GL-1020 drivers is installed on a PC where a GL-1010 or SC-2 Client installation with Agfa Manager exists, the Agfa Manager that ships with the GL-1020 Client will overwrite the Agfa Manager installed by the GL-1010 or SC-2. All products will function normally. Also, the reverse is true. When the Agfa Manager component of the GL-1010 or SC-2 drivers is installed on a PC where a GL-1020 Client installation with Agfa Manager exists, the Agfa Manager that ships with the GL-1010 or SC-2 Client will overwrite the Agfa Manager installed by the GL-1020.

21. When printing from IE or Wordpad, any print settings are not retained between prints. For example, select File + Print + Properties + Staple and print the job. If you select again File + Print + Properties, the Staple option is not remembered. This is an idiosyncrasy of the IE and Wordpad applications.

22. IPP port monitor's chunking threshold limitation is 64K maximum.

23. Settings:
OS: Windows 98SE
Application: PowerPoint 97
Printer Driver: PSL3

Procedure:
a) Open the PowerPoint file.
b) Click File -> Print -> Properties.
c) Set Zoom: 150 (or 250) on the Quality Tab. All other settings should be at their default values
d) Print.

Result:
White lines appear on the image. Settings of 100 (default) and 50 (reduction) are OK.

24. Settings:
OS: Windows 98SE, Windows 2000
Application: PageMaker 6.5
Printer Driver: PPD File

Procedure:
a) Copy the PPD file to C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Pm65\Usenglish\Plugins\ppd4.
b) Open a PageMaker file.
c) Click File -> Print.
d) Select the PS driver and PPD file and start printing.

Result:
No printed output is produced and an error message appears in the print queue. As a workaround, please use the PCL6 printer driver or update to PageMaker 7.0.

25. Settings:
Job type -> Proof Print
Duplex   -> Long Edge
Multiple pages per sheet -> 2 pages per sheet

Procedure:
Print the mixed-sized original from Word 2000 as follows:
a) LT - Landscape 1st –3rd pages
b) LG - Portrait 4th – 6th pages
c) LT - Portrait 7th – 9th pages

Result:
1st page (LT, front) => LT1, LT2
1st page (LT, back)  => LT3, LG4
2nd page (LG, front) => LG5, LG6
2nd page (LG, back) => blank
3rd page (LT, front) => LT7, LT8
3rd page (LT, back)  => LT9
4th page (LT, front, back) => blank

Problem:
a) In the back of the 1st page, different size of paper (LT, LG) is in the same page.
b) Last page is blank.

26. When printing sample fonts in AGFA Font Manager using the PostScript 9x/Me printer driver, one may get an error message "Terminating, could not register window class". To prevent the message from appearing, uncheck the "Use Bidirectional Communication" checkbox in the Options tab of the printer driver properties. Alternately, reboot the client computer.

27. Printer configuration update process will be programmatically suppressed for Windows NT/2K/XP drivers downloaded from a print server or controller, irrespective of the state of "Use Bidirectional Commnunication" checkbox.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fax Driver
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. When faxing from certain applications such as Microsoft Excel and you selected multiple copies, it will result in sending as many faxes as the number of copies selected. This is an idiosyncrasy of the application where it sends multiple jobs to the fax. Other applications may send a single job with a single copy of the item being faxed and other applications may send a single job with multiple copies.

2. When a document that includes lines such as a spreadsheet is sent via the Network Fax driver, there are cases in which the lines are not transmitted. Missing lines may be caused by limitations of the receiving fax device and/or the resolution setting in the GL-Fax driver. For better results, try a higher resolution in the GL-Fax driver.

3. The number of recipients (To: list) in the fax driver is limited to 1000.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
TopAccess
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Using an Internet browser in either MAC or Unix to login in TopAccess as an Administrator and select the Administration tab. If you make any changes in the Device, Network or Print Services tabs that require the Controller to reboot, you may receive an error message such as "Socket is not connected" or "Error attempting to access URL".
This error is benign and occurs whenever a change made triggers the controller to reboot and the communication between the browser and the Controller is lost. Unlike Internet browsers for MS Windows, the MAC and UNIX browsers do not handle the loss of communication gracefully. To remedy this condition, close your browser immediately after you apply any changes that require the Controller to reboot. Start your browser again after the Controller has completely restarted.

2. When using the Install Software option in TopAccess running under Netscape Navigator 6.x, the browser may hang or display an error message and the installation does not complete. To recover, you must terminate the browser. To resolve this issue, you must install the java plug-in version 1.3.1_02 or higher. If you still encounter problems using the Install Software option, ensure that the following class files are removed from the folder where the plugins are stored. The Plug-in directory is usually \Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\Version#\lib\applet unless the plug-in came with the Netscape Installation. In that case the class files would be located directly in the Netscape 6 folder. The class files are:
IsEther.class, IsUpdate.class, IEFeature.class, IEFeatures.class,ISPlayer.class.

3. When using TopAccess to download a file such as a Scan Templates backup file or an exported Log and clicking on the link to download the file, it may exhibit problems such as displaying HTML code or it opens the file inside the browser instead of downloading it. To avoid this, right-click on the link. From the pop-up menu displayed select "Save Target As" (MS IE) or "Save Link As" (Netscape) and follow the rest of the prompts. On a Macintosh, ctrl-click on the link. From the pop-up menu displayed select "Download Link To Disk" (MS IE) or "Save Link As" (Netscape) and follow the rest of the prompts.

4. When using One-Click Install to download the Printer Drivers with Netscape browsers on Windows 98 operating systems, the installation may freeze up in the middle of the process. Please close the browser if that happens and the Installation will continue to completion.

5. File & Print jobs are not displayed on the Current Job page of TopAccess. They will be listed under All print jobs with a blank job Type.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
TopAccessComposer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. TopAccessComposer document names should not begin or end with a period (.) or space. If a document name begins or ends with a period or space, TopAccessComposer will not accept the name and prompt you for a new name.

2. Open TopAccessComposer using Netscape Navigator 4.7x. Select the Help link in the footer. Resize down the help window if it is maximized. Click on the Search menu tab. Enter the text "Login" in the search box and click on the Search button. Click on "System tabs" on the results screen. Maximize the help window. In addition to the Search window, the Contents window will appear. This is a limitation under Netscape Navigator 4.7x but does not cause any problems. It works correctly under Netscape Navigator 6.x.

3. Procedure:
	a) Scan an LT-sized 12-page document using "Scan to TopAccessComposer"
	b) Launch TopAccessComposer by clicking the TA Composer link in TopAccess
	c) Login as Administrator
	d) Select the [Preference] tab.
	e) Define the number of thumbnails per view to load: 4, 8, and 12 (one at a time)
	f) Attempt to insert a blank page by selecting Layout > Insert Blank Page
Results:
- When (4) thumbnails are defined:
A blank page can be inserted anywhere within the document without any problems.
- When (8) thumbnails are defined:
A blank page cannot be inserted right after the last page of the document (i.e. Page 12).
The scanned document will be shown in two rows of four thumbnails per view. The cursor cannot be placed after the last page of the first row, which is actually the 4th page of the document. However, you can position the cursor in front of the 5th page to insert a blank page after Page 4.
- When (12) thumbnails are defined:
The cursor cannot be placed after the 4th and 8th pages of the document. However, you can position the cursor in front of page 5 or Page 9 in order to insert a blank page after page 4 and 8.
Remark:
If you select the List View from the View menu, you can insert a blank page with no problem.

4. Using Netscape Navigator 6.1 only. Procedure:
	a) Scan an image to TopAccessComposer and give the filename abc
	b) Launch TopAccessComposer and delete the file just scanned (abc)
	c) Scan an image to TopAccessComposer and give the filename aaa
	d) Scan an image to TopAccessComposer and give the filename abc
Result:
The file abc will not be stored in TopAccessComposer and the message "Can not read the page XML.file," may appear. Please use a different filename than the one that was deleted, save the file in a different folder and then move it to the desired folder or use a different browser.

5. Due to the algorithm used, rotating a page 90 or 270 degrees may result in loss of a small portion of the image; usually at the top or bottom of the image.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
NDPS Gateway
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. If the "Retain Jobs For" parameter is set to 1 minute using the Novell Printer Manager (Printer Configuration->Job Holds tab), the job is actually retained for a longer period. This is the result of a Novell issue rather than a Gateway problem.

2. The Novell server crashes when the user downloads a Public Access printer using the Microsoft Add Printer Wizard. Novell will address this issue in a future support pack release.

3. Message 520 displays when a controlled access printer agent's spooling configuration is changed from the Toshiba NDPS Snap-in. Printer spooling configuration changes take effect despite this error, which occurs on NetWare 5.0 with Service Pack 4 or later. Novell will address this issue in a future support pack release.

4. The Toshiba NDPS Snap-in does not report events for each paper cassette (e.g., cassette open or out of paper).

5. The network connection between the Controller and the NDPS Printer Agent is lost when the Novell File Server is restarted. Reboot the Controller to reestablish the connection.

6. A user may experience problems with the snap-in if they leave the dialog displayed over an extended period of time. To resolve this issue, close the dialog and launch the dialog again. If this problem persists, the user may need to restart the computer. Reference - 250671

7. If after installing the Toshiba NDPS Gateway in Netware 4.11 or 4.2, it is not displayed in the Configuration Utility on the server console, please do the following:
	a) Load the CLIBAUX.NLM before loading Toshiba NDPS Gateway (or NDPS manager). The CLIBAUX.NLM can be loaded automatically by adding the line "LOAD CLIBAUX.NLM" to the AUTOEXEC.NCF.
	b) The Novell new localization conversion tables must be installed in SYS:\SYSTEM. You can find these files in the latest Support pack 8a for Netware 4.11 or 4.2. After you extract the support pack compressed file you need to copy the UNI*.NLM files and LOCNLM32.NLM from the support pack to SYS:\SYSTEM directory on the server.

8. As of this writing, NDPS printers are not currently supported by Windows XP because Novell does not support NDPS on Windows XP. This is a Novell/Microsoft issue and its status may change.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toshiba MIBs (SNMP)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Some MIB objects in the standard MIB do not work properly when using the SMNP browser in HP OpenView.

i-Data Box for IBM AS/400 Printing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Create an overlay using the IBM AFP 300 driver. Click property and set the option 'Print text as Graphics' to off. Then, print out the document with the overlay created above. The output contains many unknown characters.
This is an i-Data limitation. The user should always turn ON the option "Print text as graphic".

2. The Paper Source setting doesn't work correctly. Even when several paper sources are set in the ITC file and the specified one is selected, the i-Data box always chooses the first tray on the ITC file regardless which Tray selection was made from the AS/400.

3. The Output Bin setting doesn't work.

4. Setting number of copies on the AS/400 generates multiple pages from the i-Data box. For example, setting 2 copies of a 5 page document generates one copy with 10 pages. This creates a problem for Stapling and Alternation. (As a result, multiple copies will be stapled together in one set and the Alternation job fails to work with one copy.)
