Release Description:

1. Description
    . One Button Application is designed to launch a Backup application while the button on device is pressed.

2. One Button Application Installation, OneButton_Generic_3500.exe extracted from OneButton_Generic_3500.zip:
    2.1 Installation
        2.1.1 Normal mode
            . run OneButton_Generic_3500.exe directly.
        2.1.2 Silent mode
            . Use 'OneButton_Generic_3500.exe -s' to run setup in silent mode,
    2.2.Uninstallation
        . select Add/Remove software from Windows control panel.
        or
        . run 'OneButton_Generic_3500.exe -u' from where the setup located, usually it is the original CD.
    2.3 Installed Components
        2.3.1 OneButton Application will be installed on <Program Files>\Prolific\One Button.
        2.3.2 Backup Application will be installed on <Program Files>\Prolific\One Button.
        2.3.3 USB mass storage driver for PL-2507/PL-2506/PL-3507 device in Windows 98
        2.3.4 Window service, PLFlash DeviceIoControl Service, to enable user without administrator privilege to execute the application in Win2000/XP
 
3. System Requirement:
    3.1 Operating System: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP.
    3.2 Supported Controller: PL-2507, PL-2506, and PL-3507
    3.3 Supported Language: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.
    3.3 Administrator privilege required for installation in Windows2000/XP.
 
4. Registry
    4.1 All users' registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Prolific\OneButton
        4.1.1 ButtonLaunchDevice1: The device id will be monitored. (Maximum support for 999 devices' id).
        4.1.2 ButtonLaunchPath: Application will be launched.
        4.1.3 ButtonLaunchParameter: Parameter for launched application.
    4.2 Current user's registry path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Prolific\OneButton
        4.1.1 ButtonLaunchTray: Indicate the tray icon will show or not.
        4.1.2 Compress: compress setting of latest backup.
        4.1.3 Destination Drive: destination drive of latest backup.
        4.1.4 SourceXXX: 000~999, source directories of latest backup.

5. Usage
    5.1 Click "Start\Program Files\Prolific Backup\PLBackup" will launch the application.
    5.2 Press the button will launch the application
    5.3 Double click the tray icon will launch the application
    5.4 Click right button on tray icon will show a menu as below:
        5.4.1 About: to show the about dialog box of this application.
        5.4.2 Exit: to exit the program.

6. This version can't restore the file backup by the version ealier than 3.4.0.0.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
