Introduction This Ethernet ODI Driver for DOS workstations conforms to Novell NetWare 386 Public Domain Open Data-Link Interface (ODI), a specification that is designed by Novell and Apple. It applies to the NetWare DOS work- stations and Personal NetWare. 2. Contents of the Subdirectory RETH.COM The ODI driver for DOS workstations. RETH.INS The Installation Information File. When you execute the "Install" program on the client site, you should choose "Ethernet MLID v3.05" on the "Network Board", then create NET.CFG file. 3. Installation 1) Install the Ethernet Adapter on your PC system, following the proce- dure described in the manual coming with your card. 2) Boot the system. 3) Then skip to the related section for your specific network application to continue the ODI driver installation. 3.1 NetWare DOS Workstation for 286/386 up to v3.11 1) Insert the NetWare 386 DOS/ODI WS Service Diskette (NW 3.10) or WSGEN Diskette (NW 3.11) into drive A (if you use a different disk drive, substitute the appropriate drive letter in the following procedure). 2) Create a subdirectory, e.g., DOSODI or any other name you like, on the hard disk or a floppy. Copy the following files from A: to this sub- directory: A:\DOSODI\LSL.COM A:\DOSODI\IPXODI.COM A:\NET3.COM OR A:\NET4.COM 3) Insert the Distribution Diskette into drive A. Copy RETH.COM to this subdirectory. 4) Type the following commands under this subdirectory to connect to the Novell's server : LSL RETH IPXODI NETX (X=3, 4, 5) F: (The drive which is next to the defined last drive. The default is F.) LOGIN <user_name> 3.2 NetWare DOS Workstation for v3.12 and v4.01 1) Prepare your installation software to install a NetWare DOS worksta- tion. For more inforation, see your "Workstation Basics and Installa- tion" book. 2) Insert the Distribution Diskette into drive A. Copy the new Ethernet driver (RETH.COM) to your subdirectory where your installation software exists. 3) Type the following commands under the subdirectory to connect to the Novell's server : LSL.COM RETH.COM IPXODI.COM VLM F: (or the first network drive defined in NET.CFG) LOGIN <user_name> Type your password if required !!! Note !!! NetWare versions older than 3.12 are defaulted to the Ethernet_802.3 frame type. Otherwise, Ethernet LAN drivers are defaulted to the Ethernet_802.2 frame type. For more information, refer to Appendix B of your "Workstation for DOS and Windows". 3.3 Personal NetWare 1) Format a diskette and copy RETH.COM to root directory. 2) Install Personal NetWare according to the regular procedure but choose "*OTHER CARDS" item in the "Network Interface Card Name" dialog box. 3) Insert the diskette built in step 1 into drive A, then press <Esc> to continue. 4) Choose RETH.COM in "Other Driver List". 5) Continue the current task to complete the installation.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
