Overview

This video driver is for the integrated Intel 810 or 815 Graphics Chipset on an E-1400 (Lanai), E-1600 (Santorini) or E-3400 (Corfu and Corfu 2) for the Windows 95 and Windows 98 operating systems.  These drivers also will support the Windows Millennium operating system  

Identification

1.  The system must contain either of the following chipsets:

          E-1400 (Lanai) - Intel(r) 82810 - DC100 Graphics Controller
          E-1600 (Santorini) - Intel(r) 82810E Graphics Controller  
          E-3400 (Corfu and Corfu 2) - Intel(r) 82815 - Solano Graphics Controller

Viewing the Adapter Properties in the Advanced Display Properties under the Adapter tab can identify the Display adapter. 

2.  Supported operating systems - Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Millennium 


Installation

The file 7510797.EXE is a self-extracting file that will create a directory on the C: drive titled "C:\cabs\7510797" and extract files into that directory.  Only Windows 95 and 98 installation instructions are provided.  

Windows 98
1. Click the Start button and then click Run.

2. In the Open text box, type the path and location of the file 7510797.EXE.  (Example:  C:\cabs\7510797.exe)  Then click the OK button.  The files will then be extracted to the C:\cabs\7510797 directory.

3. Click the Start button and select Settings from the menu.

4. Click Control Panel in the Settings menu.

5. In the Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

6. In the Display Properties, click the Settings tab.

7. Under the Settings tab, click the Advanced button.

8. In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties window, click the Adapter tab.

9. In the Adapter tab, click the Change button.

10. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, click Next.

11. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, use the recommended setting (Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.) and click the Next button.

12. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, select Specify a Location.  Then type in the path to where the updated files are located (i.e. "C:\cabs\7510797") in the text box provided. Click the Next button.

13. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, select "One of the other drivers."  Then click the View List button.

14. In the Select Other Driver window, select the updated driver.  Click the OK button.

15. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, click the Next button.

16. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, the Location of the driver should indicate the correct path to the driver, i.e. "C:\cabs\7510797\I81XW9X.INF".  Click the Next button.

17. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window, click the Finish button.

18. In the System Settings Change window, click the Yes button to restart the computer.

19. The drivers should be installed.  Make the needed adjustments to the desired color depth and resolution in the Display Properties Settings tab.


Windows 95
1. Click the Start button and then click Run.

2. In the Open text box, type the path and location of the file 7510797.EXE.  (Example:  C:\cabs\7510797.exe)  Then click the OK button.  The files will then be extracted in the C:\cabs\7510797 directory.

3. Click the Start button and select Settings from the menu.

4. Click Control Panel in the Settings menu.

5. In the Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

6. In the Display Properties, click the Settings tab.

7. Under the Settings tab, click the Advanced Properties button.

8. In the Advanced Display Properties window, select the Adapter tab.

9. In the Adapter tab, click the Change button.

10. In the Select Device window, click the Have Disk button.

11. At the Install From Disk window, in the Copy manufacturer's files from: dialog box, type the path to the updated drivers.  (i.e. C:\cabs\7510797)  Click the OK button.

12. In the Select Device window, select the appropriate Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller as listed in the Identification paragraph above and click the OK button.

13. In the Advanced Display Properties window, click the Close button.

14. In the Display Properties window, click the Close button.

15. In the System Settings Change window, click the Yes button to restart the computer.

16. The drivers should be installed.  Make the needed adjustments to the desired color depth and resolution in the Display Properties Settings tab.


Removal

Windows 98
1. Click the Start button and click Settings from the menu.

2. CLick Control Panel in the Settings menu.

3. In the Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

4. In the Display Properties, click the Settings tab.

5. Under the Settings tab, click the Advanced button.

6. In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties window, select the Adapter tab.

7. In the Adapter tab, click the Change button.

8. In the Update Device Driver Wizard window, click Next button.

9. In the next Update Device Driver Wizard window, select "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want."  Then click the Next button.

10. In the next Update Device Driver Wizard window, select Show all devices.

11. In the Update Device Driver Wizard window under Manufacturers, select Standard Display types which can be found on the top of the listed manufacturers.

12. In the Update Device Driver Wizard window under Models, select Standard Display Adapter (VGA).  Then click the Next button.

13. In the Update Driver Warning window, click the Yes button.

14. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, verify that Standard Display Adapter (VGA) is identified. Click the Next button.

15. In the next Update Device Driver Wizard window, click the Finish button.

16. In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties window, click the Close button.

17. In the Refresh Rate window, click the OK button.

18. In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties window, click the OK button.

19. In the Display Properties window, click the Close button.

20. In the System Settings Change window, click the Yes button to restart the computer.

21. The display adapter drivers will be removed and standard VGA drivers will be installed and in use when the computer restarts.

Windows 95
1. Click the Start button and click Settings.

2. In the Settings menu, Click Control Panel.

3. In the Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

4. In the Display properties, click the Settings tab.

5. Under the Settings tab, click the Advanced Properties button.

6. In the Advanced Display Properties, click the Change button under the Adapter tab.

7. In the Select Device window, select the Show all devices option.

8. In the Select Device window under Manufacturers, select (Standard Display types).

9. In the Select Device window under Models, select Standard Display Adapter (VGA).  Then click the OK button.

10. In the Advanced Display Properties window, click the Close button.

11. In the Display Properties window, click the Close button.

12. In the System Settings Change window, click the Yes button.  The computer will then restart.


Troubleshooting

1.  Follow the uninstall procedure.

2.  Re-check the Applicable Part Numbers section to make sure the correct driver is being downloaded.

3.  Download the file again to ensure a good download.

4.  Reinstall the driver following all Installation steps.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
