Overview



This document describes the steps necessary to update to BIOS version 945G107G for the ECS 945G-NM uATX Motherboard.





Identification



This BIOS can be installed on an ECS 945G-NM uATX Motherboard.





Installation



Update (flash) the BIOS if:



1.  You are updating to a newer BIOS revision.



2.  A technician has told you to flash or re-flash the computer.





Steps to flash or re-flash the computer using a CD burner drive:



1.  Use CDRW burning software to Burn Disc Image of the C:\Cabs\9539180\9539180.iso file to a blank CD.



2.  After creating the bootable CD, place the CD in the CD/DVD drive, and then restart the computer.



3.  At the Menu, select 1 for Gateway BIOS 945G107G.  The BIOS flash process runs automatically.  Do not press any keys or turn off the computer during this process.



4.  When complete, the message "Flashing Complete" flashes. Remove boot media used and press the F1 key.



5.  Press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.



6.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, select Load Optimized Defaults, and then press the ENTER key.



7.  Press the Y key, and then to select Load Optimized Defaults, press ENTER.



8.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, select Save and Exit Setup, and then press ENTER.



9.  Press Y, and then press ENTER to Save and EXIT.





Steps to flash or re-flash the computer using a floppy disk drive or bootable USB flash drive:



1.  Copy all of the BIOS files from the C:\Cabs\9539180\DOS folder to a blank floppy disk or a USB flash drive. Do not copy the 9539180.iso file.



2.  Restart the computer with the floppy disk inserted or USB flash drive plugged in.



3.  At the Menu, select 1 for Gateway BIOS 945G107G.  The BIOS flash process runs automatically.  Do not press any keys or turn off the computer during this process.



4.  When the flash is complete, the computer automatically restarts.  



5.  Press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.



6.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, select Load Optimized Defaults, and then press the ENTER key.



7.  Press the Y key, and then press ENTER to select Load Optimized Defaults.



8.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, select Save and Exit Setup, and then press ENTER.



9.  Press Y, and then press ENTER to Save and EXIT.





Removal



Because a computer must have a BIOS to operate, there is no removal process.  The BIOS cannot be removed after it has been upgraded.





Troubleshooting



If you have trouble flashing the BIOS, try the process again following the steps listed in the Installation section of this document.  If you are still unable to flash the BIOS, verify that you are actually attempting to flash the BIOS on an ECS uBTX motherboard.  If this process still fails, contact technical support.



There may be an error indicating a CMOS Checksum error.  At the Gateway Splash screen, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.  Press the ENTER key to select Load Optimized Defaults and Save and Exit Setup.  The computer restarts.
