Overview  



This document describes the steps necessary to install the Windows Vista (32-bit) Nvidia MCP61 SATA IDE driver for the computer models listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below.





Identification  



If you have a computer listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section and are running Windows Vista, install this driver.





Installation



After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file D20240-002-001.exe, files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\D20240-002-001 folder on the hard drive.



1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 



2.  With Control Panel in Category View, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.  



3.  In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.



4.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) in front of the type of device you want to install the drivers for, and then double-click the specific device to open the Properties dialog box.



5.  In the Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.



6.  In the Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, browse for the driver software on your computer.



7.  In the next Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, verify that Include subfolders is checked.  In the Search for drivers in this location box, type: C:\Cabs\D20240-002-001, and then click Next.







Removal



1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.



2.  With Control Panel in Category View, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.  



3.  In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.



4.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) in front of the type of device you wish to remove the drivers from, and then double-click the specific device to open the Properties dialog box.



5.  In the Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall.



6.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.





Troubleshooting



If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
