Overview  

This document describes the steps necessary to install the Windows XP AMD CPU Power Now driver for the Gateway notebook computers listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below.


Identification  

If you have a Gateway notebook computer listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below and are running Windows XP, install this driver.


Installation

After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file (9533114.exe), files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\9533114 folder on the hard drive.

1.  From the Start menu, click Run. 

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9533114\PN_1_1_0_18.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Athlon 64 Processor Driver dialog box, click Next.

4.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Yes to accept the terms of the license agreement.

5.  In the Information dialog box, click Next.

6.  In the Select Destination Location dialog box, click Next. 

7.  Files copy.

8.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.

9.  The computer restarts and installation is complete.


Removal

1.  Open Control Panel.

 *  If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.
 *  If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.

 *  If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs.
 *  If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Athlon 64 Processor Driver, and then click Remove.

4.  In the Confirm Uninstall dialog box, click OK.

5.  Files remove.

6.  Removal is complete.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, verify that Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected, and then click Finish.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.  If the touchpad stops working after removing the driver, restart the computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
