Overview



This is the basic Gateway OEM Microsoft Windows XP driver for the Creative Sound Blaster(r) Audigy(tm) 2 ZS sound card.



Identification



1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.



2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance. 



3.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon. 



4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.



5.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.  



6.  If Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS is listed under Sound, video and game controllers, this is the correct driver.





Installation



1.  After you have downloaded and double-click the sound driver file (9527412.exe), the files self-extract and copy into the folder C:\Cabs\9527412 directory on the hard drive.



2.  From the Start menu, click Run.



3.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9527412\Pinstall.exe.  Click OK.



4.  In the Begin Creative SB Audigy 2 dialog box, click OK.



5.  In the Completed Creative SB Audigy 2 dialog box, click Close.  



6.  In the Reboot dialog box, click Yes to restart the computer and initialize the changes. 



7.  Upon restarting the computer, the sound drivers are installed.





Removal



1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  



2.  In Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  



3.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon. 



4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.  



5.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.



6.  Double-click Creative SB Audigy.



7.  In the Creative SB Audigy Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall Driver.



8.  In the Warning dialog box, click OK.



9.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.



10.  If you are prompted to restart the computer again, click Yes.





Troubleshooting



If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, perform the following troubleshooting steps. 



1.  Ensure that all cables are securely connected.  



2.  Ensure that the sound card is fully seated in the PCI expansion slot.



3. Remove the driver, following the removal procedure in this document, and then reinstall the driver, following the installation procedure in this document.



During the installation of the drivers, if a message prompts that no Audigy 2 sound card was detected, the sound drivers appear to install but may not work with the actual sound card installed.  Verify that the sound card part number installed in the computer matches one of the applicable part numbers for this driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually
