How to install the Zoltrix Modem driver for the FMHSP56PCI

QUICK INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove the existing HSP modem from the Control Panel.
2. Restart Win95/98 and install the new HSP modem driver from the driver disk or folder when prompted.
3. Install the new modem driver.
4. Restart Win95/98.

REMOVING THE EXISTING MODEM DRIVER

You should use the first method first as this utility program provided by PCtel, not only 
removes the modem driver, but completely removes all the modem entries in the Windows registry.

1. Double click on the "HSP Modem" ICON in the Control Panel.
2. Click on the "Uninstall" button.
3. Click on the "OK" button to confirm the uninstallation.
4. Click on the "OK" button again when informed that the "HSP Modem is removed successfully!"


Now that the old drivers are removed, you can install the new drivers
per the instructions found in the manual. But as this is a PnP device, the driver installation 
is very simple. Simply follow the onscreen directions and use the correct driver disk or folder location when prompted.

IMPORTANT NOTE

This new driver no longer has a Uninstall option in the Control Panel HSP Modem Utility.
To remove this driver, use the following instructions:

1. Double click on the Add/Remove programs ICON in the Control Panel.
2. Scroll down the list until you find the "Zoltrix WinHSP 56K PCI MODEM" and select it.
3. Click on the Add/Remove button to remove the modem drivers.

COUNTRY SELECTION

If you are not located in the USA, select the correct country from the list in the Zoltrix WinHSP 56K PCI MODEM utility in the Control Panel.

1. Double click on the "Zoltrix WinHSP 56K PCI MODEM" ICON in the Control Panel.
2. Select the correct country from the drop down list and click on OK.

Note: If you coutry is not listed, you can try other country settings to determine whick setting fundtions best in your country.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
