Until the driver is installed, you will not be able to access your Jaz drive or install ToolsNT software. IMPORTANT! You must have administrator privileges for your local computer in order to install software drivers under Windows NT. ______________________________ Section 1.1 Driver Installation under Windows NT 4.0 1. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 2. Double click "SCSI Adapters." NOTE: Windows NT installs drives or adapters that use the parallel port interface as SCSI adapters. 3. Select the "Drivers" tab and click the "Add" button. 4. Click "Have Disk" and insert the Install diskette that came with the Jaz Traveller into the computer's floppy drive. 5. Make sure "a:\" appears in the dialog box (or "b:\" if the Install diskette is in drive b:), then click "OK." 6. Click the "Iomega Zip Parallel Port/Jaz Traveller driver" to select it. 7. Click "OK." Windows NT will then copy the driver file and add the Iomega parallel port driver to the list of installed drivers found on the system. 8. Click "OK" to exit. Note that you need to reboot your system in order for the new driver to take effect. After your system reboots, you should be able to access the Jaz drive. ______________________________ Section 1.2 Driver Installation under Windows NT 3.51 1. From the Windows NT Main icon, double click on the Windows NT Setup icon. 2. From the Setup window, choose the Options pull-down menu, select "Add/Remove SCSI adapter," then click "Add." NOTE: Windows NT installs drives or adapters that use the parallel port interface as SCSI adapters. 3. Scroll down the adapter list box and click on "Other." 4. Insert the Install diskette that came with the Jaz Traveller into the computer's floppy drive, then click "OK." 5. Click the "Iomega Zip Parallel Port/Jaz Traveller driver" to select it, then click "OK." 6. Click "Install." Windows NT will then copy the driver file and add the Iomega parallel port driver to the list of installed drivers found on the system. 7. Reboot your computer for the new driver to take effect. After your system reboots, you should be able to access the Jaz drive. _________________________________________________________ Section 2 Iomega ToolsNT Software Iomega ToolsNT software is an integrated package of software utilities that provides full support for Jaz and Zip drives under Windows NT. ToolsNT includes Iomega disk format, Zip and Jaz disk protection options, Copy Machine, Quick (a multi-functional tool allowing fast access to Iomega drive features), and the Iomega Parallel Port Optimizer which can increase the data transfer speed when using Jaz Traveller to connect your Jaz drive. Refer to the PC Installation section of the Jaz Owner's Manual for instructions on installing Iomega ToolsNT on your system. If the "tools" disk that came with your Jaz drive does not include ToolsNT software, or if you need updated software, you can download the basic Tools and driver software from the Iomega Web site. 1. Contact the Iomega Web site at http://www.iomega.com. 2. Select "Software Download" from the contents list, then select the "FTP Site" link. 3. Select "Windows NT" and download the software needed on your system. _________________________________________________________ Section 3 Iomega Parallel Port Optimizer If you install Iomega Tools software on your system, you can use the Parallel Port Optimizer to automatically configure the Jaz Traveller driver to use the fastest transfer mode supported on your system. To use the Optimizer tool, double click on the "Parallel Port Optimizer" icon in your Iomega Tools group. Jaz Traveller supports three modes of data transfer, which have different transfer speeds. When installed, the Jaz Traveller driver uses the most compatible, but slowest mode to ensure the broadest base of compatibility. If your computer has a bi-directional parallel port, the Jaz Traveller driver can be set to use a mode which provides higher data transfer speeds. The fastest mode supported by Jaz Traveller requires a special "Enhanced Parallel Port" (EPP) chip set to be present on the host computer. Because of the variety of EPP chip sets, and because there are some chip sets that mimic a true EPP chip but do not support EPP transfers, not all systems with "EPP" can support this mode for Jaz Traveller.Download Driver Pack
