4. Cautions Regarding Printer Driver Installation
**********************************************************************
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing a Printer Driver Using the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A Standard TCP/IP Port needs to be installed in order to allow printer drivers to be added using an installer program. (This is usually already installed.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing a Printer Driver Using the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When installing a printer driver using the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor," it is necessary to use the "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" to create a new port.
Enter the name or IP address of the MFP to connect to in [Printer Name or IP Address]. It is recommended that you enter a port name that will enable you to recognize that the port is a printer port in [Port Name] (such as "Printer Port").
Select [Standard Generic Network Card] for the type of device.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
"SNMP Status" Setting When Using the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When installing a printer driver using the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor," if you select [SNMP Status Enabled] in [Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor], you can check printer errors (such as when the printer runs out of paper or toner) from the list of printers on the computer or the print queue
If you select [SNMP Status Enabled] in [Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor], confirm that the "SNMP function" is enabled on the MFP.
If the "SNMP function" is enabled in the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor" but disabled on the MFP, print data will not be output.

If you are using Windows(R) 2000, make sure that [SNMP Status Enabled] is deselected.
If [SNMP Status Enabled] is selected, print data may not be output.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing a Printer Driver with the Printer on the Internet Selected (IPP Printing)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can install and use a printer driver with the printer on the Internet selected.
Enter the IP address or printer name followed by "ipp" for the URL, as indicated below.
- http://printer name/ipp

Use SSL to prevent the information transmitted between a computer and a machine from being intercepted during IPP printing.
Enter the following URL to use SSL:
- https://printer name/ipp

[Caution]
- The HTTP protocol and port are used for printing with IPP (Internet Printing Protocol).
When using a printer driver with IPP, check whether HTTP can be used in your network environment before specifying the settings.
- The HTTP port number can be changed in the Web settings.
If the HTTP port number has been changed from the default value of port 80, enter the following URL when performing the installation.
(Example) When the HTTP port number has been changed to port 631:
   http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:631/ipp
- To specify a printer name, DNS must be available in your network environment.
Check whether DNS can be used in your network environment before specifying the settings.

**********************************************************************
5. Cautions Regarding the Installation of TiffMaker and Other Software
**********************************************************************
When installing TiffMaker and other software, refer to the user's manual.

**********************************************************************
6. Printer Driver Cautions / Restrictions
**********************************************************************
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Changing the Port Number When the Raw Protocol is Set
in the"Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Raw is selected as the protocol in the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor," you can change the port number in [Raw Settings] (default value: 9100).
If you change the Raw port number in the "Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor", also change the port number in [RAW Port (Port 9100)] on the machine, and set the same value.
If the port number is not set to the same value, you will become unable to print.

The port number in [RAW Port (Port 9100)] can be changed in the Web settings.
For details, refer to the user's manual.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Restrictions on Some Printer Driver (GDI Method) Rendering Functions
(Enlarge/Reduce/Combine/Booklet Printing) When Using IPP
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Printer drivers can be used with IPP.
However, the "Enlarge/Reduce/Combine/Booklet Printing" rendering functions cannot be used when printing with IPP.
When using the "Enlarge/Reduce/Combine/Booklet Printing" rendering functions, install the printer driver using the "Standard TCP/IP Port."
To use the "Enlarge/Reduce/Combine/Booklet Printing" rendering functions with IPP, use the PCL5e, PCL6, PostScript3, or XPS printer drivers.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Using the "Sort" Function
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can specify the Sort function when printing with a printer driver.
To specify the Sort function, enable [Sort] in the "Destination" tab of the printer driver.
When the above setting is specified, printing may not be performed correctly if you set [Collate] in the printing dialog box of applications such as Microsoft Word.
In such a case, perform printing with [Collate] disabled in the printing dialog box.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Using the "Enlarge/Reduce/Combine/Booklet Printing" Functions
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When printing is not performed correctly using the "Enlarge/Reduce/Combine/Booklet Printing" functions, set [Document Size] in the properties of the printer driver to the same size as the document.
When printing with the "Enlarge/Reduce" function, the page layout may change or the number of pages may increase or decrease, depending on the document.
In such a case, adjust the page layout in the application, as necessary.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Using the "Combine" Function
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can specify the Combine function when printing with a printer driver.
The Combine function enables you to print multiple pages on a single sheet of paper.
You can specify to print two, four, or eight pages on each sheet.
When printing is performed with the Combine function specified, printing may not be performed correctly if multiple sets are specified to be output in the dialog of the application.
In such a case, perform printing with [Collate] disabled in the printing dialog box.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Documents Cannot Be Printed Correctly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When documents cannot be printed correctly, perform printing with [Enable advanced printing features] disabled in the [Advanced] screen of the printer driver properties.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Items Cannot Be Selected in the Printer Driver
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some functions of combinations cannot be used.
Refer to the user's manual and help files for details on each function.

-------------------------------------0---------------------------------
When Printing Cannot Be Performed Correctly With the Paper Specified in
When Documents Are Created in Certain Application Software
-------------------------------------------------0---------------------
Printing may be performed with the paper size and orientation set in application software given priority over the settings in the printer driver, depending on the application software.
Perform printing with the correct settings specified in the application software.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Documents Created in Certain Application Software Cannot Be Printed Correctly
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There may be insufficient memory to perform printing.
If multiple sets are specified to be printed, try printing one set.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Using Adobe Acrobat
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When images are not printed correctly, perform printing with [File] > [Print] > [Advanced] > [Print as image] selected in Acrobat.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Grouped Documents in Microsoft Excel Cannot Be Printed Correctly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Check the "Page Setup" in Microsoft Excel and the printer driver settings.
When printing worksheets that have been grouped in Microsoft Excel, each worksheet must have the same page settings and printer driver settings specified.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Customers Using Microsoft Excel
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When printing is performed using Microsoft Excel, the [Print to File] dialog box may be displayed.
In this case, check whether the printing port is correctly set in the printer properties screen.
If the [Print to File] dialog box is displayed even though the settings are correct, close all the application software you are using and restart the computer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Limitations of Microsoft Excel
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you print using a printer driver other than the one that is set when creating a document in Microsoft Excel, the page layout may change or the position of line breaks inside cells may change, causing data that fit on one page to require two pages.
Also, when you set "Print to 1 x 1 page" in [Scaling] in [Page Setup] in Microsoft Excel, if you change to a printer driver other than the one that is set when creating the document, the zoom ratio may change significantly.
This is due to the way that Microsoft Excel operates.

When you want to print documents created in Microsoft Excel just as they appear in the preview screen using a printer driver, it is necessary to set the same printer driver when creating the document.
When printing multiple sheets in Microsoft Excel at the same time, the second and subsequent sheets may not be printed with the settings specified in the dialog.
In such a case, perform printing with the same page settings specified for each sheet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Precautions to take when printing using the "Shift" function
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The printer will not operate correctly if the "Collate" box is checked in application settings.
Uncheck the "Collate" checkbox before printing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Restricted items when using IPP printing in Windows 7
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When you use IPP printing in Windows 7, the document information (document name, print status, number of pages, etc.) for waiting to print / printing is not displayed in the print queue.
To perform a printer operation (pause, resume, or cancel) from the print queue, use a printer on which a printer driver that uses Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor is installed.
