Creative Keytar Readme File

This file contains information to supplement the help file.
Please read all the sections before you proceed with the installation.

This file contains the following sections:

1.  MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

    Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 with 
    Wavetable audio cards from Creative.

2.  INSTALLATION

    The full installation option requires about 3 MB of hard disk
    space for program files and an additional 2 MB for working space. 
    You might need more if your drive is in compressed form.


3.  UNINSTALLATION

    Before uninstalling the software package, ensure that Creative
    Keytar is closed.


4.  PLUCKING AND STRUMMING STYLE NAMING CONVENTION

    Auto-plucking and auto-strumming pattern presets have
    prefixes, which indicate these playing styles:

	FK_		: Folk
	PP_		: Pop
	RB_		: Rhythm and Blues
	JZ_		: Jazz
	RR_		: Rock and Roll
	BL_		: Ballad

5.  SAMPLE PALETTES

    The following sample chord palettes are provide for you to
    experiment :

    BDAY.PLT    	: Standard "Happy Birthday"
    DESAFIND.PLT	: A Bossa Nova palette. Think of "A Carlos Jobim"
    MOTELKLF.PLT	: A folk rock palette. This chord was recently used in a "revival"

6.  TONE CONTROL IN KEYTAR MAY NOT WORK ON YOUR CARD

     Certain audio cards do not support Keytar's tone (treble) adjustment feature. 
     Therefore, moving the Tone slider in the Volume and Tone Control dialog box 
     has no effect.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
