Modem Drivers Re-installation

1. If the modem is physically configured as a Plug and Play device,
(some Modulator 56 models do not have PnP option), Windows 95,
Windows 98, or Windows NT4.0 with PNPISA* installed will prompt
you to install new drivers if there are new hardware found or
the modem Firmware is modified.

If the .INF files have been copied to the hidden WINDOWS\INF directory, then the device drivers are installed automatically.

Otherwise, Windows will ask for the driver location. Enter the
location of the newly downloaded .INF files. Once the Modem 
Drivers are installed, the Windows will automatically install the Serial Wave device driver for voice support. In case the Windows 
ask for the driver location again, enter the same location for
the Modem .INF file again.

2. If the modem is physically configured as a Non-PnP device, 
Windows will not detect the hardware automatically. 

Goto Windows "Control Panel", and double-click on the "Modems" icon,
Highlight the modem listed in "General" and click on the "Remove" button. Shutdown the Computer and restart the Windows.

Goto Windows "Control Panel" again,  double-click on the "Modems" icon,
Let Windows to detect new hardware. 

Once Windows detect the modem, it will install the drivers if the
modem is supported by the existing Windows .INF files, 
otherwise click on "Change" to install the new .INF files. 

Click on the "Have Disk" button and 
enter the path of the new .INF files,  

Select "Rockwell Compatible Internal V.90,K56flex,Voice,Speakerphone"

Click on "Next" button, verify the modem, and click on "next", then
"Finish". 

Note:

To install Windows NT4.0 PNPISA support, put the Windows NT4.0 CD
in the CD drive, highlight the .INF in NT4.0 CD PNPISA directory,
click the RIGHT mouse buttom, and select "Install".

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
