IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FIRMWARE-UPDATE TO VERSION v5.213/5.502
THE PARAMETER WILL BE ADOPTED DURING THE FIRMWARE UPDATE.
NEW PARAMETER WILL BE SET WITH THE DEFAULT VALUES. FOR MORE DETAILED INFORMATION,
SEE THE RESPECTIVE SUPPLEMENTARY DESCRIPTION.
General:
========
This firmware supports the device SUNNY ISLAND 5048.
The update is being done by copying the file "UPDATE.BIN" to a
SD/MMC-Card and inserting this card into the SD/MMC-card slot
of the SUNNY ISLAND 5048 MASTER UNIT, which is in STAND BY
mode.
Slave devices which are connected to the Master unit via
communication do not have to be updated explicitly. The Master
unit is updating the Slave units automatically.
If a Slave unit has been updated accidentally while the Master
unit still has the older version of the software, this will be
detected by the Master unit and the Slave unit will be set to
the version of the Master unit automatically.
CAUTION: This firmware version is for SUNNY ISLAND 5048 only
and not for other devices of the SUNNY ISLAND family.
By updating the firmware, no parameter which has been set in advance
will be deleted as long as this is not explicitly explained in this
text file.
For safety reasons the parameter list should be stored on the
SD/MMC-Card (please see manual: "Store and load parameters")
Important information:
======================
After the update, the generator is requested to initiate a full charge.
Duration of the firmware update:
================================
Updating single-phase systems takes 5 - 10 minutes.
Depending on the system configuration with more than one Sunny
Island, updating the software might take up to 20 minutes.
A status bar shows the progress of the update. Leave the SD card
in the Sunny Island until the update is finished and the display
denotes "STNDBY: To Start INV hold <Enter> for single devices.
In systems with several Sunny Island wait until the master displays
"Update finished. Press Enter" and the slave displays "Ready wait
for Master". During the update process, leave the DC disconnector
to the "On" position.
Changes to previous versions:
=============================
Firmware release V3.015/3.009 (only for SI 5048)
=================================================
- Optimized menu structure: e.g. Password setting at #260 instead
of #280
- New feature: Grid voltage increase protection
- New feature: Integrated voltage peak detection
- New feature: The Sunny Boys' output power can now be controlled via
the RS485 interface during main power grid operation

have been eliminated
- Generator management: Improved connection to AC bus (reverse power
protection temporarily suppressed)
- Changed Settings: Date and time settings are only possible in
"stand by" mode
- Battery management: If the maximum permission temperature is
exceeded, the Sunny Island switches off. This upper limit is now
adjustable.
- MMC/SD-Card: Changed data file structure
- MMC/SD-Card: Recording time 100 instead of 28 days
- Enhanced firmware updates
- Optimized short-circuit characteristics
- Optimized generator statistics
- No shut down after cable break of the battery temperature sensor
any longer
- New default values: - GnErrStpTm 1h (instead of 6h)
- Stop time after the generator is manually
started is set to 30 sec
Firmware release V4.017/4.007 (only for SI 5048)
