Flash Upgrade Proccedure:
=========================

1. Go to Windows 95/98 "Control Panel" -> Double-click on "Modems" ->     Click on "Diagnostics" -> select the COM Port for the modem -> 
   Click on "More Info...". Write down the Com Port used by the modem.
  
If the modem information is not displayed after a couple of minutes,
or an error message come up, stop and reinstall your modem drivers.
The reinstallation procedure is listed at the bottom of this file.

If the Firmware is Version 6.06 or newer, i.e.
	ATI1	CD04.08 - 606 Parallel (V.90 ONLY)
the Firmware is already up to date, stop, otherwise, continue.

2. Double click on C:\CV90\FLASHV90.EXE to install the flash utility to Windows 95 or 98. Replace "C:\CV90" if the .ZIP files are decompressed or unzipped to other directory. 

3. Click Start->Program->FlashV90 to Run the utility.

4. Select the COM port and the modem to be upgraded.

5. Enter the path and the .BIN file name of the firmware code. 
   For example: C:\CV90\606JTN11.BIN.

6. Follow on-screen instructions to finish.

Warning: Do not interrupt the flashing process, eventhough you could 
         run the flash again. The modem memory may need be physically          flashed in case the software flash fail. 

7. Go back to step 1 to verify the modem after the Windows restart.


Reinstall Modem Drivers:
========================
1. Remove the modem entry from the "Modem Property" "General" page, and restart the computer.

2. Windows 95/98 will not automatically update your modem driver if it is not set to PnP. In this case, go to Control Panel ->Modems->Add-> let Windows to detect the hardware. 

3. The Windows should find the newly upgraded modem and install the modem driver for it if Windows found the .INF file for it. 

4. If Windows detected the "standard modem", click on "change" and enter the location of modem driver .INF files, then OK to continue. 

5. Select "Cirrus 56K bps Modem Internal (CL-GD5650)". Do not use .INF files from the old "Communicator 56" or "Explorer 56 / plus" Software CD.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
