Jaton USB ConNET Installation Disk

I. Installation of USB Driver for Windows 98
============================================

1. Plug in one side of a USB ConNET.

2. A window appears:
	'This wizard searches for new drivers for: Jaton USB ConNET'.

3. Click Next

4. A windows appears and ask:
	'What do you want to do?'

5. Make sure 'Search for the best driver...' is selected and click Next.

6. On the next window that appears, check the box marked:
	'Floppy disk drives' and uncheck the other boxes. Click Next.

7. A Window saying
   	'Jaton USB ConNET' and 'Location of driver:
   		A:\JTNCLINK.INF'
   will appear.  Click Next.

8. A window might appear titled: Copying Files...
   If this window does appear, type A:\ at the bottom of the window and click OK.

9. Click 'Finish' on the next window that appears.


II. Installation of Network Drivers
===================================

1. During the USB installation, a shortcut called "NetSetup" was placed on the desktop.
   Double-click the "NetSetup" icon.

2. A window will appear asking for 'Typical Installation' or 'Advanced Installation'.
   If you select advanced installation, the Windows 98 network control panel will be
   launched and you will need to install the KwikLink Network Adapter drivers manually.

   If you select 'Typical Installation' proceed with the following steps.

3. A window will appear asking for a computer name.  Type one in and click next.

4. A window will appear asking for a workgroup name. Type one in and click next.

5. A window will appear asking for a description.  Type one in and click next.

6. A window will appear asking if you want to assign your own IP address.  
   You can chose to let Windows pick an IP address but this will lengthen the time
   it takes for your computer to boot.  If you choose 'Yes', proceed to the next step.

7. Enter the IP address for this computer on in the four entry boxes. Click 'Continue'.

8. The network drivers for your computer will now be installed. 
   There may be periods of inactivity up to ten seconds.  
   You may be asked to insert your Windows 98 CD or for the location of your 
   Windows 98 CAB files.  When the driver installtion is finished, you will be asked 
   to reboot. Eject the driver disk and click 'Yes'.

9. After reboot your computer should be ready to go.


(III). Un-installtion of the USB Connect
========================================

1. Make sure the device(s) is unplugged.  Click the 'Start' button.

2. Select 'Settings...'

3. Select 'Control Panel'

4. Double-click on 'Add/Remove Programs'

5. Select 'Jaton USB ConNET' from the list.

6. Click the "Add/Remove" button.

7. A windows will appear asking to reboot.  Click 'Yes'.

8. After reboot, the USB ConNET is completely un-installed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
