This ReadMe provides instructions on how to update the Windows NT device drivers for the Dell PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller (hereinafter referred to as the PERC 2 or PERC 2 controller).

1.0 Introducing the Product
The PERC 2 controller integrates advanced RAID technology with
state-of-the-art controller hardware to deliver industry-leading
performance, data availability, and storage management features.
The Perc 2 controller includes the following components:
* PERC 2 controller
* PERC 2 firmware
* Windows NT drivers for PERC 2
* FAST management software for Windows NT

2.0 Understanding the Windows NT Device Drivers for the PERC 2 Update Installation
You perform this type of installation if you need to update the Windows NT device drivers for the PERC 2 controller.Typically, you perform this type of installation when a maintenance fix needs to be applied to the currently installed Windows NT device drivers for the PERC 2 controller.

3.0 Understanding the Contents of the Kit
The Windows NT device drivers for the PERC 2 reside on a single diskette labeled as follows:

4.0 Updating the Windows NT Device Drivers for the PERC 2
To update the Windows NT device drivers for the PERC 2, follow these steps:
1) Follow this path from Start:
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> SCSI Adapters -> Drivers -> Add
2) The system displays an "Install Driver" window. Select "Have Disk".
3) The system displays an "Install From Disk" window. The "Install Driver" window instructs you to insert the manufacturer's installation media into the drive and click <ok>. In this case, insert the disk labeled:

4) Enter the drive and location of the files. The default location on the Dell PERC 2 NT Device Drivers Disk 1 of 1 is:
a:\
The SCSI Adapter presented is:
Dell PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller 2 Click <ok>.
5) The system displays the following:
"Windows NT Setup" - Click <new>
6) The system displays "System Settings Change" and asks if you want to restart the computer. Press No.
7) Press <ok> on the SCSI Adapters page to close that window.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
