* Animation Display When Importing for Scanner Driver

The default settings of the "Animation Display When Importing"
for scanner driver depends on whether the screen reader is
  activated when installing this utility.
The animation will not be displayed if the screen reader is
  activated and vice versa.
However, as the diagnosis may not be correct depending on the
environment used, you can change the animation display settings
manually at the "Display Animation When Importing" at the
scanner driver settings screen if desired.

* Importing of color images or gray images are unavailable from the
  monochrome multi-functional machines.

* This utility cannot operate if there are two network cards connected
  to the Computer.

* Using the scanner driver
When operating from an application, select "Panasonic Network Scanner
Driver" as the TWAIN data source.

* Selecting the scanner device

When activating the utility, you can select the scanner device
operating on the network. (Refer to "2. Compatible H/W product
  names")

The assigned IP address will follow after the scanner device name.

* Changing the scanner device display

The following may cause the activation of the utility to be
  slow.

  1) When "Use network" is selected on the Change Display screen.
  2) When DNS is used for computer search.
  3) When the scanner IP address is not registered in the DNS server.
  4) If the number of unregistered scanner increases, the speed may
      become even slower.

* Registering the device name of HOSTS file
You can register the device name in the HOSTS file up to 59
  characters.

The host name registered in the DNS server might not be
fully displayed due to addition of the domain name.

* Limitations when there is a router between the scanner and Computer

In order to access the scanner from a Computer when there is a
router between the client Computer and the network, select the
"Change Display" button to enable "Display other network scanners"
on the Change Display screen and then register the IP address and

incompatible to this utility, the device will be displayed on the
Change Display dialog box. If the incompatible scanner device is
selected, an error message stating, "The selected scanner device
does not exist." will appear and notify that the device cannot be
  accessed.

* Document deletion timing

When a Computer imports data from a scanner, the document
stored in the Mailbox will be deleted once the last page of the
  document has been imported.
It is possible that the document might have been deleted before it
is imported if the importing process is met with the following
  interruptions at the Computer:

** an error occurs during the process of compression and
      uncompression at the Computer
** the Cancel button of the utility is pressed and the
      importing process is canceled
  ** the Computer is rebooted

When this happens, the document could not be imported again.

* Limitations when executing the utility

  * The scanner driver and Mailbox Viewer cannot be used at the same
time by the same Computer Moreover, the scanner driver cannot be
    used in multiple applications.

  (1) Depending on the product, when the utility is importing data
from a particular scanner, that scanner cannot be used by
       another Computer for data importing.
However, you can display the document list from the utility.

  (2) Depending on the product, when a FAX is being transmitted, you
cannot specify the scanner to import data.
However, you can display the document list from the utility.

In both cases (1) & (2), you will have to wait until the current job
process is completed before importing data again.

* Applications that do not support multi-page document
 (*For scanner driver only)

For applications that do not support importing of documents with
multiple pages scanned from the Automatic Document Feeder, open
the "Settings" dialog box from the "Settings" button of the scanner
driver and then select "By page" for the "Display Mode".
As the document information will be divided and displayed one page
at a time with this setting, import the images of these divided
pages one page at a time.
Only the first page will be displayed.

* When a decoding error occurs while a FAX document is being imported

When a decoding error occurs while a FAX document is being
imported, that particular page might not be correctly displayed on
  the screen.

* About pages when transmission is disconnected during importing

If transmission between the multi-function machine is disconnected
when importing a document that is stored in the mailbox,
the imported page may not be displayed correctly.

* Importing multiple documents

When importing multiple documents stored in the mailbox,
communication with the machine will be cut off temporarily while
  importing each document.
The importing process may be terminated if the scanner is being
used by other computers during this timing.

* When image importing is in progress, select the space key or the
  Enter key to cancel.

* Usually when the Cancel button is selected, it becomes suppressed.
  Display GUI before selecting Cancel.
However, depending on the progress of the cancellation, GUI may not
  be displayed.

* The following character string cannot be used as the path name for
"Temporary Save in", "Save in" and "Folder Naming".

    / ; : ? < > | "

* If the mailbox is configured not to delete data after importing,
the Mailbox Viewer will not be able to import the same data again
  after importing it once.

* When there are multiple documents stored in the Mailbox Viewer,
the Mailbox Viewer does not allow you to specify and import only
  the specified document.

* When the Mailbox cannot be opened

The document stored in the scanner may be corrupted if an error
message "Invalid password" always appear and the contents of the
Mailbox cannot be displayed even though the Mailbox number and
  password are correctly entered.
When this happens, delete the document data that is stored in the
  Mailbox from the scanner.

* When the file space specified at "Temporary Save in" and "Save in"
  is insufficient

If there is insufficient file space in the specified location at
"Temporary Save in" and "Save in", the documents cannot be imported
  correctly and may be destroyed.
Specify a drive with plenty of file space.

* Canceling when uninstallation is in progress

When Cancel is selected during uninstallation, some of the files
left will become defective. As a result, it will not operate
normally and uninstallation cannot be carried out again. If you
have selected Cancel, reinstall to return it to the normal state.

* Precautions when using the Internet Explorer (IE3.0/4.0)

When using the Internet Explorer as a browser, priority will be
given to TCP/IP access for Dial-Up Network connection if the
"Connect to the Internet as needed" check box in the Connection tab
of the Internet properties dialog box is checked.
If the check box is checked, the Dial-Up connection window will be
opened each time the scanner driver is activated. At this point,
the scanner driver will be activated if the Dial-Up Connection
  window is canceled.

* When the image data loaded into the Mailbox is printed out from
the scanner of this device, there may be a possibility of an
appearance of moire fringe depending on the type of paper.
Please adjust the following parameter and reprint.
  · Adjusts the "Scan resolution", "Reduce/Enlarge" to the most
    suitable value (optimum value)
  · Set the print rate to 100%.

When scanning a long document, the width of the document will
determine the standard paper size to be used. Thus the long
document will be divided equally based on the standard paper size
  and become a multi-page document.

If "Fit to Standard Size Paper" is selected, the unintended paper
size may be selected. When this happens, change the settings at
DocuWorks Desk according to your needs.

For example, when the scanner reads an A4 size document as Letter.
In this case, configure the following settings at the DocuWorks
  Desk.

  1. Select Option... from File of the DocuWorks Desk.
  2. Click the "Scan and Import" tab.
  3. Check the box next to "Fit to Imported Image".

If the paper size of an imported document is greater than A3 size,
configure the following settings at the DocuWorks Desk to reduce it
  to A3 size.

  1. Select Option... from File of the DocuWorks Desk.
  2. Click the "Scan and Import" tab.
  3. Check the box next to "If scanned image exceeds A3 size, fit it
      into A3.".

For DocuWorks Ver. 3.1.6, if the first page of an uncompressed
multi-page TIFF file with color and black/white pages imported by
Mailbox Viewer is a color page, the file will not be displayed.

For DocuWorks Ver. 3.1.6, all pages of a multi-page TIFF file
imported by Mailbox Viewer will be standardized and displayed
in the size of the first page.

TextBridge PRO 98/TextBridge PRO 9.0/TextBridge PRO Millennium

The limit for a long document is about 20000 lines.

Set the "Scanner Settings" to "Scanner's TWAIN dialog box".
When "TextBridge Settings" is set, importing can be done normally
but the scanner driver might not be able to quit normally.

If Cancel is selected during the importing process from the scanner
driver, an error message will appear.

TextBridge PRO 98 does not support color and grayscale. In the
event that you have imported the scanned images with incorrect
settings, they will still be stored in the mailbox. You can use
other applications or the Mailbox Viewer to import the scanned
images. After importing, if the scanned images still remain in the
mailbox, delete them by clicking the Delete button on the dialog
  box.

For TextBridge PRO 98, if you click the TextBridge PRO 98 window
using a mouse when the scanner driver screen is displayed, the
scanner driver screen will be hidden at the back of the screen. If
this happens, bring it to the front.

For TextBridge PRO 98, if the data to be imported is too large and
the resolution is too high, it may not be imported. Reduce the size
of data or lower the resolution.

For TextBridge PRO 9.0, ServicePack1 is required in order to
  activate the scanner driver.

For TextBridge PRO 9.0/TextBridge PRO Millennium, the resolution of
the image from the scanner driver will be changed by the
  application.

The multi-page Tiff file imported by the Mailbox Viewer will not
be displayed. However, for TextBridge PRO 9.0/TextBridge PRO
Millennium, the first page of the uncompressed multi-page Tiff file
  imported will be displayed.

When importing a document with color and black/white pages, or
color documents and black/white documents at the same time, the
documents may be deleted and importing is canceled. When this
happens, pages that have been imported correctly will be stored
  in the application.
Follow the procedure below to continue scanning.

  1. Re-display the list of documents in the computer where importing
      was conducted.
  2. Select the "Settings" button to open the Settings dialog box.
  3. Configure the "Display Mode" to "By page".
  4. Import the remaining pages marked with an *, one page at a time.

Rough images may be displayed for black/white images. When this
happens, go to "Display" and check "Grayscale" for a smooth image.

When importing mixed size documents, all pages are assumed to
have the same size and resolution as the first page. Thus
subsequent pages that are different from the first page may not be
  displayed correctly.
When this happens, select "By page" and import one page at a time.

The limit for a long document is about 20000 lines. When this is
exceeded, an error message from Imaging will be displayed.

The multi-page Tiff file imported by Mailbox Viewer and compressed
in JPEG format cannot be displayed.
