** First-time installation **

A. Before Installation
- Under DOS/Windows environment
a. Dump it into a floppy disk.
X:\PATH\rawrite.exe dd.img A:
Tips: You can get rawrite.exe from RHEL installation disk #1
"\dosutils" directory.
- Under Unix enviroment
a. Unzip driver disk
# unzip install.zip
b. Dump it into a floppy disk.
# dd if=dd.img of=/dev/fd0
B. Installation
a. Booting from Installation CDROM #1
b. On "Welcome to Red Hat Linux" installation screen, a prompted lable "boot:"
will appear at the bottom of the screen. According to the prompt, type in
"text(or linux) dd" to tell linux we have a driver disk.
c. You will be asked "Do you have a driver disk?", select "Yes".
d. When prompted "Insert your driver disk and press OK to continue", insert the
driver diskette in the floppy drive and then select "OK".
e. When prompted " Do you wish to load any more driver disks ", select "No"
f. Follow installion procedure to finish your system installation.

** Installing raid driver on an Existing System. **

$$ extract acs_ame.ko from dd.img $$

# mkdir /root/tmp
# dd if=dd.img of=/dev/fd0
# mount /dev/fd0 /mnt
# cp /mnt/modules.cgz /root/tmp
# cd /root/tmp
# gzip -cd modules.cgz|cpio -id
You can get acs_ame.ko from 'kernel' (EX. 2.6.18-53.el5)
You can use insmod to install Yano RAID driver acs_ame.ko manually
# insmod ./acs_ame.ko
# copy acs_ame.ko to /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.el5/kernel/drivers/scsi/
# make new initrd image
An initrd image is needed for loading your SCSI module at boot time.
So you need update your initrd image.....
Insert and add this context description into /etc/modprobe.conf

Build up a new initrd image. Assume your kernel version is 2.6.18-53.el5.
# mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-2.6.18-53.el5.custom.img 2.6.18-53.el5
insert and add this context description into /boot/grub/grub.conf

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
