The spi530.exe utility is used to determine what printer ports are available on your system. This utility replaces a number of previous utilities like emurst.exe, smcmode,exe etc. When you execute spi530 with no options you will get the following help screen. =================================================== = portio <options; case sensitive> = = = = -h Help, print this screen = = -p xxxx Host I/O address (378) = = -e Examine printer ports = = -r Reset xds510pp = = -nsc NSC mode setup = = -tosh Toshiba mode setup = = -smc SMC mode setup = = -dadd drvpath\drvname Add\start NT driver = = -drem drvname Stop\remove NT driver = =================================================== Option explanation ------------------- spi530 -h // Help (shows the options) spi530 -p xxxx // Specify the host I/O port. spi530 -e // Examine the ports available on the PC and hopefully // find one that works. spi530 -r // Resets the port (same as emurst) // Must have power on the XDS510PP and target board. // This option will also print out extended diagnostics // if there is trouble resetting the emulator. spi530 -nsc // Replaces nscmode.exe. spi530 -tosh // Replaces tosh.exe. spi530 -smc // Replaces smcmode.exe. spi530 -dadd drvpath\drvname // Add\start NT driver. The driver flags // will be set for automatic startup. spi530 -ddrem drvname // Stop\remove NT driver. Do not include // .sys in the drvname Notes: For new PCs try to set the port for ECP or ECP+ (SPP8 or EPP) if available. The spi530.exe utility and low level emulator software generate a log file named SdEmuLog.txt. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
