Signametrics Corporation Product Installation instructions.

Installation on Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP and NT4.0:

1.0 Install from the provided "Product Installation CD":
1.1 Turn off the computer and disconnect it's power cord.
1.2 Insert the Signametrics product to be installed into a vacant
slot, preferably as far as possible from the Video board or CPU.
1.3 Secure it to the chassis with fastener(s).
1.4 Power up the computer.
1.5 A "New Hardware" Wizard should appear, with a dialog box promt
for new driver.
1.6 Insert the Product Installation CD into the CD drive and guide
the wizard to read the driver from the CD (.INF file).
1.7 Following a successful driver installation invoke the autorun.exe
located on the CD. There are two ways to do this. 1) extract and
reinsert the CD into the drive, provided your PC is setup for it,
it will automatically run Autorun.exe on the CD. 2) Double-click
the "Autorun.exe" from the CD.
1.8 Select the product you are installing from the Software Installation
menue on the screen. Alternatively, double click the "setup.exe" file
located in product subdirectory of the CD.
2.0 Install from a downloaded record from the Signametrics site:
The software package downloaded from the web is compressed as a .zip file.
It can be uncompressed on XP by right clicking on the SM2040.zip file and selecting
"Extract All". Older systems will need to install a utility such as WinZip
to decompress the file.
2.1 Follow steps 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 above.
2.2 Guide the wizard to read the driver from the group of files you have
uncompressed. It is looking for an .INF file.
2.3 Following a successful driver installation, run "setup.exe" located
with the installation files.
Uninstalling the product
------------------------
The uninstallation process is very specific. It will remove all
components copied to your hard driver. If uninstalling a DMM and
you intend to keep the calibration record, save it (SM40CAL.DAT or
SM60CAL.DAT file) prior to this process.
1) Select the 'Control Panel' from 'My Computer' group.
2) Open the 'Add/Remove Programs' object.
3) Select the 'Install/Uninstall' tab of the 'Add/Remove Programs'.
4) Select the Signametrics product to be removed and press the
Add/Remove button.
5) Alternatively, go to "Start" "Programs", and select the Uninstall
icon from the product installation group.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
