This document describes the release notes of the OMNIKEY CardMan 9010/9011 Driver

I. Installation
***************

Run 'setup.exe' on disk1 and follow the instructions in the setup program.
If necessary, the setup program will also install the Microsoft Smart Card
Base Components, which are needed by the CardMan 9010/9011 for proper operation.


II. General hints
*****************

If you have selected the wrong COM port:
----------------------------------------
Uninstall the CardMan 9010/9011 IFD handler using the 'Add/Remove Programs' tool
in the Control Panel and start the setup program again.


Uninstalling:
---------------
After uninstalling the CardMan IFD handler using the 'Add/Remove Programs'
tool in the Control Panel, it is necessary to reboot the machine.
Then the changes will take effect.


CardMan 9010/9011 IFD handler uninstalling under NT4.0:
-------------------------------------------------------
If the Microsoft Resource Manager cannot find any PC/SC smart card reader
during boot, the service control manager will display the message box
'At least one service failed to start...'.

You can avoid this error message if you manually change the following value
in the registry:

Old value:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ScardSvr\ErrorControl=0x00000001

New value:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ScardSvr\ErrorControl=0x00000000



Tools:
------
For modifying the COM port you can also use the tool setrd.exe which is stored in the same
directory as the setup program.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
