Details on its configuration for use with different protocols is included below. NEW FEATURES: - Though included since 1.03.0005, since this is the first official DoxBox release since it was implemented, we describe the new "OamDisable" registry string behavior (VTAen36431): 0x00 = Enable ALL OAM features 0xFF = Disable ALL OAM features 0x01 = Disable OAM F4/F5 Reply of CO initiated loopback cells 0x02 = Disable OAM AIS/RDI Reply of CO initiated loopback cells MRs CORRECTED: - VTAen36900 - Latest Centragate USB driver for WHQL - VTAen36431 - Centragate OAM function request KNOWN ISSUES: - ATM driver link speed as reported in "GlobespanVirata Dial-up PPP Connection" status window displays incorrect value: 28.8K on WinXP, 10 Mbps in Win2K (VTAen26570). Rely on speed displayed by "ATM Connection Status" in the "Network Connections" folder instead. PACKAGE TEST RESULTS: - Installed/Uninstalled/PPP/Ping/FTP of WAN driver on WinXP. COMMENTS: --------------------------------------------- CONFIGURATION FOR ATM DRIVER UNDER WINDOWS XP --------------------------------------------- Since the Installer does not yet handle all ATM driver's posibilities, manual configuration information for operation with all possible protocols under Windows XP is included in this section. I) Installing the Driver: 1. Plug in the USB device to the PC with the USb cable. 2. At the Welcome screen click Next. At the License Agreement click Accept. 3. Select "Choose my settings form a list of choices" and click Next. 4. Click on "Customize". 5. Select "ATM Driver" and click Next. 6. Enter/Select the desired VPI, VCI, Encapsulation information (all this settings should be provided by your ISP). Select the modulation (leave the "Multimode" default if unsure). 7. Confirm your choices at the Summary screen by clicking Next (or "Back" and correct any mistake) 8. Drivers are installed and you are prompted for reboot. Upon system restart the drivers should be ready to use. II) Configuring the System Protocols. Make sure the device is plugged in and in Data mode (DSL Status application shows "Data" or network icon in the system tray shows the link is up), then proceed. A) RFC2364 (also known as "PPPoA" or "PPP Over ATM") The Installer application creates a PPPoA (RFC2364) dial-up connection over the ATM driver programatically during the installation process. Nothing else needs to be done to use it. You can access access it by the name "GlobespanVirata Dial-Up PPP Connection" icon present in the "Network Connections" panel (or via the shortcut in your desktop) and you will only need to enter your username and password (VPI and VCI will be already filled up). As said, this is not needed, but if you want to create the dial-up adapter manually, these are the steps: 1. Open the "Network Connections" Panel and select "Create a New Connection" From the "Network Tasks" menu on the left side. 2. Click Next at the Welcome screen. 3. Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next. 4. Select "Setup Manually" and click Next. 5. Select "Connect using a dialup modem" and click Next. 6. Select "GlobespanVirata USB ADSL ATM Modem" and click Next. 7. Enter the ISP name (i.e.: "GlobespanVirata PPPoA") 8. Enter the phone number in the following format p<vpi>,<vci> Vpi and Vci are values provided by your ISP. For example for Vpi=0, Vci =88 enter the string "p0,88" (without the quotes). Click Next. 9. Enter username and password information. Click Next. 10.Click "Add shortcut to your desktop" (if desired) and click Next. 11.All done, open the dialer and click "Dial" to connect. B) RFC2684 (also known as "Ethernet over ATM"). 1. Open the "Network Connections" Panel. 2. Right Click on the device named "ATM Connection" with a Device Name of "GlobespanVirata USB ADSL ATM Modem" and select Properties. 3. In the "ATM Connection Properties" window, click Install. 4. In the "Select Network Component Type" window select "Protocol" and click Add. 5. Select "Microsoft Ethernet PVC - RFC 2364" and click OK. The selected protocol gets added to the items in "ATM Connection Properties". Click Close. 6. At the "Network Connections" Panel a new device with the name "Local Area Connection <n>" (n is a number and depends on how many Ethernet devices are present in your system) and Device Name "ATM Emulated LAN" or "Ethernet ATM Miniport" will appear. Right click it and select Properties. 7. On the "Local Area Connection <n>" Properties window click "Configure" below the "Ethernet ATM Miniport" adapter. 8. On the "Ethernet ATM Miniport" Properties window select the Advanced Tab 9. Select/Enter the desired encapsulation, VPI and VCI (all are provided by your ISP). Click OK. 10.If you want to configure the device for RFC2516 continue in section C) below. 11.DSL device Setup is complete. There is no dial-up for RFC2684, your connection should be established automatically within a few seconds. If a DHCP server is present in the network you will be assigned an IP address automatically, if not your ISP has provided you with an IP address that you should enter in the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" properties pane of the Ethernet ATM Miniport. C) RFC2516 (also known as "PPPoE" or "PPP Over Ethernet"). 1. Perform steps 1 - 10 from section B) (RFC2684). 2. Open the "Network Connections" Panel and select "Create a New Connection" From the "Network Tasks" menu on the left side. 3. Click Next at the Welcome screen. 4. Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next. 5. Select Setup Manually and click Next. 6. Select "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password". Click Next. 7. Enter the ISP name (i.e.: GlobespanVirata PPPoE) 8. Enter username and password information. Click Next. 9. Click "Add shortcut to your desktop" (if desired) and click Next. 10.All done, open the dialer and click "Connect". NOTES: - It is highly unlikely that you will be operating in a network that accepts several different protocols over different VCs. However, we have tested the following simultaneous connections successfully: a. RFC 2684 (VPI=0, VCI=35) and RFC 2364 (VPI = 0, VCI = 88). b. RFC 2516 (VPI=0, VCI=36) and RFC 2364 (VPI = 0, VCI = 88). - As said above, this is a preview "engineering release" of our ATM driver solution. This ATM DRIVER NOT READY FOR PRODUCTION at this time No stress or WHQL testing has been performed on it yet.Download Driver Pack
