License Agreement for Microsoft(R) PostScript(R) Plug-in Driver
===============================================================

1. PROPRIETARY RIGHTS: Title, ownership rights, and intellectual
   property rights in the SOFTWARE shall remain in Panasonic and its
   third party suppliers.  You have no rights in the SOFTWARE except
   as expressly granted in accordance with this agreement.

2. LICENSE:  Under this agreement, you are granted a non-exclusive
   license to use the SOFTWARE for the purpose of using with
   compatible Panasonic products in your country.  You are not permitted
   to (1) assign, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, convey, or transfer the
   SOFTWARE to any third party by any tangible media such as floppy disk,
   magnetic tape, or CD-ROM, (2) distribute the SOFTWARE on a network or
   by a telephone line available to the public or (3) alter, modify,
   decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or create derivative works
   based on the whole or any part of the SOFTWARE.
   If any direction on usage or restriction for the SOFTWARE is
   expressly specified in this web site, you are required to follow
   such direction.

3. TERM: This agreement is effective upon installing the SOFTWARE
   until you terminate the agreement by destroying the SOFTWARE.
   This agreement will also terminate if you fail to abide by any
   terms of this agreement.  In case of termination, you must
   promptly destroy the SOFTWARE.

4. LIMITED WARRANTIES: THE SOFTWARE IS SUPPLIED STRICTLY ON AN 'AS IS'
   BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED,
   INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
   FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE.
   YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHOOSING, MAINTAINING AND MATCHING OTHER
   HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE COMPONENTS IN COMBINATION OF THE SOFTWARE.
   IN NO EVENT, SHALL PANASONIC, PANASONIC CHANNEL PARTNERS, AUTHORIZED
   DEALERS AND THEIR THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR
   DAMAGE INCLUDING INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OR DAMAGE, ARISING
   FROM USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE SOFTWARE, OR ANY MODIFICATION OF THE
   SOFTWARE.

5. EXPORT CONTROL: You are not allowed to export the SOFTWARE in part
   or whole, directly or indirectly, in violation of any restrictions,
   laws or regulations imposed by the government of your country or
   any other relevant countries, and are required to obtain necessary
   approval prior to exporting the SOFTWARE.

This document provides information about the PostScript(R) printer driver on

This PostScript(R) printer driver operates on a computer running
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 or Windows(R) XP.

3. Installation
---------------

<<Installing Using the Printer Wizard>>

 1) Click the "Start" button.  Point to "Settings" and then click
    "Printers". In the "Printers" window, double-click the "Add Printer"
    icon.

 2) In the "Add Printer Wizard", click "Next".

 3) Specify the printers connection type. When the printer is directly connected
    or when it is connected through the network using the LPR protocol, select
    "Local Printer".
    Confirm that the check box "Automatically detect and install plug and play
    printer" is not selected, then click "Next" and proceed to Step (5).
    When the printer is connected through a network, select "Network Printer"
    and then click "Next".

 4) Specify the printer name. Enter a printer name directly or click
    "Next" to select the printer to be connected.
    After your selection, proceed to Step (7).
    (Contact the network administrator if you have any queries.)

 5) When the printer is connected directly to the PC, select the port connected to
    the printer and click "Next", then Proceed to Step (7).
    When connecting directly to the printer through a network using the LPR
    protocol, select "Standard TCP/IP Port" from the "Create a new port" and
    click "Next".
    The "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" is activated, and Click "Next".

 6) Enter the IP Address and name for the printer into the "IP Address and name
    dialog box,and then click "Next".
    (Contact your network administrator if you do not know the IP Address.)
    The dialog to end the "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" is
    displayed, then Click "Finish".

 7) Select printer model dialog box will appear.
    Click "Have Disk" to Install from the CD-ROM.

 8) Specify the folder containing this file "Papsapei.inf" and click "OK".
    * When installing from a CD-ROM, enter "F:\Drv_PS3\English\Win2K_XP".
      In this example, F drive is used as the CD-ROM drive.
      If you are using another drive for the CD-ROM, specify accordingly.

 9) The "Panasonic DP-C321PS" and "Panasonic DP-C401PS" printer will appear
     then click next.

 10) Change the printer name, if necessary.  The message asking whether to
     use this printer as the default printer is shown.  Make a selection and then
     click "Next".

 11) If you share this printer with other network users, select "Shared",
     enter the required information, and then click "Next".
     If not sharing, select "Not shared" and click "Next".

 12) Specify whether to print the test page after the driver installation. If you
     want to print the test sheet, select "Yes". If not, select "No".
     Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

 13) After the necessary files are copied, the installation is completed.
     Confirm in the "Printers" folder that the printer is added.


<<Installing Using the Plug & Play Function>>

    Note that installation using the Plug & Play function is allowed
    only if the printer is connected to the PC using a bi-directional
    parallel cable when installing one of the following printer models.

      Panasonic DP-C321
      Panasonic DP-C401

 1) Connect the PC and printer using an interface cable with the
    power supply to the PC and the printer switched OFF. Then, turn
    ON the power supply of the printer and the PC and start
    Windows 98/Me.

 2) The printer is detected and a "New Hardware found" dialog box is
    displayed. Select the "Driver provided and follow the on-screen
    instructions.

 3) Enter the drive name (e.g. ->D:) and the path name (\Drv_PS3\English\
    Win9x_Me) of the driver in the "Copy manufacturer's files from disk"
    input field on the screen and click the "OK" button.

    e.g. D:\Drv_PS3\English\Win9x_Me

 4) A dialog box for specifying the printer name is displayed. To
    change the printer name, enter the printer name in the "Printer
    Name" box. If another printer is already installed, a prompt
    message is displayed asking whether to use the new installed
    printer as the default printer. To use this printer as the
    default printer, select "Yes".

 5) After installation, a dialog box for specifying whether to print
    the test page is displayed. If you select "Yes (recommended)",
    load Letter paper in the printer and click "Finish". If you do not
    wish to print the test page, select "No" and click "Finish".

 6) The required files are copied and installation is completed. If
    the test print is performed, a message is displayed to notify that
    the test print has been completed.

4. Cautions and Limitations
---------------------------


Digital Signature
=================
When installing the driver, the message "Digital signature not found."
Select "Continue anyway" to install the printer driver.


Unavailability of PostScript Printers Shared on Windows NT 4.0 from Windows 2000 Client
=======================================================================================
When a Windows 2000 client uses a PostScript printer shared on Windows NT 4.0 OS,
the PostScript driver for Windows NT4.0 will be installed automatically to Windows 2000.
This may result in an operational error. Therefore, do not use the PostScript printer
shared on Windows NT 4.0 from the Windows 2000 client.


Printing a Blank Page by Error When N-UPs is Specified
======================================================
A blank page may print out under the following conditions:
When the "Detailed Print Features" is set to ON, the "Internal Hard Disk" is set
to "Not installed", "Collate per set" is checked ON, and N-UPs is specified.


Booklet Creation for a Mixed-Orientation Document
=================================================
In case of Booklet Creation for the document including landscape and
portrait pages, the printed image may be enlarged.


Collate Printing
================
When specifying collate printing from Microsoft Word 97/2000 using
MSPScript 5 driver, select the check box "Collate" in the Print
dialog of Microsoft Word 97/2000.


Negative Output
===============
When 2-up or 6-up printing with the negative image output specified for portrait
documents, the first page allocated to each set may not print properly.


User-Defined Size (1)
=====================
In some applications, such as Microsoft Word 97/98/2000, printing with the
"PostScript Custom Page" may not be available.


User-Defined Size (2)
=====================
If using the "PostScript Custom Page", when setting the minimum (or maximum)
value displayed for width and height, the results may not be normal.
In such cases, set up a larger (or smaller) value and retry printing.


Statement (5.5x8.5") Size
=========================
Statement (5.5x8.5") paper cannot be selected for Paper Size.
To feed statement paper from Tray 5 (Bypass), specify PostScript Custom
Page Size as 5.5x8.5", then select that as the paper size.


EMF Spooling Limitation
=======================
When the EMF spooling is enabled, the document name for Secure/Sample Print
becomes "Printer name, JobID" automatically.

Whenthe EMF spooling is enabled and the printer is shared, the IP Address of the
Server is displayed.

Moire Fringe
============
When the image data loaded into the Mailbox is printed out from the scanner of
this device, there may be a possibility of an appearance of moire fringe
depending on the type of paper.
Please adjust the following parameters and reprint.
 · Adjust the "Scan resolution" and the "Reduce/Enlarge" to the most suitable
   value (optimum value)
 · Set the print rate to 100%.

Booklet Creation
================
In some applications, such as Acrobat, PageMaker, CorelDraw and QuarkXPress
Booklet Creation may not be performed properly.


Adobe PageMaker
===============
In the case of Adobe PageMaker6.5, TrueType font may not print properly.
In such cases, select "Print" by pressing the "Alt" key.


Printing in Inverse Order
=========================
In some applications, such as Acrobat, PageMaker, CorelDraw and QuarkXPress
printing in an inverse order may print as expected

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
