Cautions and Limitations ------------------------------ Limitations to Available Features (1) ===================================== The feature "Output Paper Size" can be used only with the printer driver for English versions of Windows 98/Me. Limitations to Available Features (2) ===================================== The features "Specify Job Owner", "Secure Print" and "Sample Set" cannot be used with the printer drivers for Japanese versions of Windows 98/Me, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows2000. Duplex Printing on AdobePS 8.5.1 for Macintosh ============================================== On AdobePS 8.5.1, when a landscape document is duplex printed and designated as Flip on short edge and Flip on long edge, they might be printed opposite. Collate Printing ================ In DP-C321 or C401, when "Internal Hard Disk" is set to "Not installed" in "Device Settings" of the printer driver, collate printing is not available even though the hard disk is installed actually. When the internal hard disk is installed to the printer, set "Internal Hard Disk" to "Installed" in "Device Settings". Application-Specific Limitations ================================ Collate printing is not available in some applications, such as Acrobat 3.0 for Windows. Also, collate printing for mixed-size document is not available in some applications, such as Microsoft Word 97/98/2000 for Windows. Paper Supply Setting ==================== When the paper supply is set to "Auto" for the paper that can be fed only from the bypass tray, the desired results may not be obtained. When printing such paper sizes, set the paper supply to the "Bypass Tray". Range for Custom Paper Size Setting =================================== The range of Custom Paper sizes that are available for PostScript driver may be different depending on the models. The paper size exceeding the range of user-defined sizes (including slight errors due to unit conversions) may not be printed properly. Setting Custom Paper Size ========================= When the Custom Paper Size is registered as width>length and printed from Tray 5 (Bypass), the paper size which is indicated on the UI Panel might not be indicated correctly. In this case, register the Custom Paper Size as length > width. Limitation for Custom Paper Size ================================ When printing the Custom Paper Size, specify the tray for the paper supply in which the paper of the Custom Paper Size is loaded. When the paper supply is set to "Auto", the desired results may not be obtained. Application-Specific Limitations ================================ The feature to correct the orientation of a Custom Paper Size is not available in some applications, such as Acrobat. Margins for a landscape document ================================ When "Print Orientation" is set to "Landscape", settings for top/bottom margins and for right/left margins may be performed inversely, respectively. This issue can be avoided by setting "Print Orientation" to "Landscape Rotation" or exchanging the values between top and bottom, between right and left for the margins to be set up. Application-Specific Limitations ================================ Margin setting is not available in some applications. Enlargement =========== When enlargement over 200% is specified, lines and figures may not be printed properly in some applications. Paper Size ========== Limitation for Panasonic DP-C321/C401 Statement (5.5x8.5") paper cannot be selected for Paper Size. To feed Statement paper from Tray 5(Bypass), specify Custom Paper as 5.5x8.5", then select that as the paper size. ATM (Adobe Type Manager) ======================== Two versions of the ATM, version 4.0.2 and 4.5.2, are included for Macintosh. Use version 4.5.2 if your operating system is 9.0. Windows applications ==================== When the "Output Paper Size" is selected other than "None",the "Scaling" option should be set as "100%". Avoid using the above two functions at the same time. Using Custom Paper/Postcard limitation ====================================== The printer driver allows you to make selections to print on custom paper/ Postcard using duplex and/or stapling feature to the "Stacker Tray" or "Mailbox Bin". However, these features are actually not available for printing with the Custom Paper/Postcard. Using Custom Paper limitation ============================= You can feed custom paper/Postcard from the "Bypass Tray" only. However, when you select "Custom Paper" "Postcard", the "Paper Source" selection does not change to "Manual Feed" automatically. Please select "Manual Feed" yourself. Color Matching on AdobePS 8.7.x for Macintosh ============================================= White or light-colored areas on bitmaps will also be printed in black if "Black and White" is selected for [Print Color] of [Color Matching]. To print in monochrome, set [Print Color] to "Color/Gray Scale" and [Output Color] of [Printer Specific Options] to "Black". <<Specific Applications>> Adobe Acrobat ============= When printing from Adobe Acrobat with "Use Printer Font" set to ON, the desired results may not be obtained. In such cases, set "Use Printer Font" to OFF for printing. Adobe PageMaker =============== When using the auto tiling feature of Adobe PageMaker6.5, a partial image loss may occur. Adobe PageMaker for Windows =========================== When using PPD files for Adobe PageMaker on Windows9x/Me, we recommend PPD for Windows2000(PACC4EE1.PPD ) instead of PPD for Windows9x/Me (PACC4EP1.PPD). Lotus Freelance =============== When using Lotus Freelance, grouped figures may not be printed properly. Microsoft Word ============== When printing from Microsoft Word, translucent figure and characters may not be printed properly. Microsoft Word for Windows ========================== When printing the data using Section Break from Microsoft Word for Windows, N-up printing may not performed properly. This issue can be avoided by using Page Break in place of Section Break. When printing from Microsoft Word 97/98/2000 for Windows with "Tray 5 (Bypass)" selected for the paper supply, the printing may be interrupted with the message "Load Paper XX" (XX: paper name) displayed on the UI panel of the printer. In such cases, temporarily load the paper required for paper trays 1 through 4. Microsoft Word97 ================ Some applications share the "Collate" switch with the printer driver internally. When you want to use the "Staple" function, please select the "Collate" option both on the printer driver dialog and on the application's print setup dialog first. Microsoft Word for Macintosh ============================ When printing the mixed-orientation document from Microsoft Word 6.0/98 for Macintosh, N-up printing or duplex printing may not be performed normally. A filled text box with double or triple-lined edges may not be printed properly. In this case, re-create the text box with single-lined edges and print again. Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel ======================================================== When the "Staple" option is selected, the printer does not print from the user-specified tray. This phenomenon occurs on all the operating systems including Macintosh and Windows. Microsoft Excel =============== When printing the entire book from Microsoft Excel, the desire print results may not be obtained. When using the Sample Set from Microsoft Excel, check off "Collate" in the "Print" dialog. ------------------------------ 4.
