License Agreement for Panasonic PCL 6 Printer Driver

1. PROPRIETARY RIGHTS: Title, ownership rights, and intellectual
property rights in the SOFTWARE shall remain in Panasonic and its
third party suppliers. You have no rights in the SOFTWARE except
as expressly granted in accordance with this agreement.
2. LICENSE: Under this agreement, you are granted a non-exclusive
license to use the SOFTWARE for the purpose of using with
compatible Panasonic products in your country. You are not permitted
to (1) assign, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, convey, or transfer
the SOFTWARE to any third party by any tangible media such as
floppy disk, magnetic tape, or CD-ROM, (2) distribute the
SOFTWARE on a network or by a telephone line available to the
public or (3) alter, modify, decompile, disassemble, reverse
engineer, or create derivative works based on the whole or any
part of the SOFTWARE.
If any direction on usage or restriction for the SOFTWARE is
expressly specified in this web site, you are required to follow
such direction.
3. TERM: This agreement is effective upon installing the SOFTWARE
until you terminate the agreement by destroying the SOFTWARE.
This agreement will also terminate if you fail to abide by any
terms of this agreement. In case of termination, you must
promptly destroy the SOFTWARE.
4. LIMITED WARRANTIES: THE SOFTWARE IS SUPPLIED STRICTLY ON AN 'AS IS'
BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHOOSING, MAINTAINING AND MATCHING OTHER
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE COMPONENTS IN COMBINATION OF THE SOFTWARE.
IN NO EVENT, SHALL PANASONIC, PANASONIC CHANNEL PARTNERS,
AUTHORIZED DEALERS AND THEIR THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR
ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE INCLUDING INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OR
DAMAGE, ARISING FROM USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE SOFTWARE, OR ANY
MODIFICATION OF THE SOFTWARE.
5. EXPORT CONTROL: You are not allowed to export the SOFTWARE in part
or whole, directly or indirectly, in violation of any restrictions,
laws or regulations imposed by the government of your country or
any other relevant countries, and are required to obtain necessary
approval prior to exporting the SOFTWARE.

1. Please note that this printer driver operates on a computer with a
32-bit x86-based microprocessor (Intel 80486/25 or above) and an
upward-compatible processor, running Windows(R) 2000 or Windows(R) XP
English Version.

3. Installation
===============
Follow the instructions below to install the PCL 6 printer drivers.
Please replace <LANG> of the explanation of the directory in the
text with the directory name of each language.
In an English version, <LANG> is replaced with "English".
Here we will install and uninstall the Panasonic DP-C321/C401 printer
driver as an example.
3.1 Installation on Windows(R) 2000
===================================
(1) Start Windows(R) 2000 and insert the Printer Drivers, Utilities &
Documentation" CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
(2) Click "Start", select "Settings", and then click "Printers".
(3) Double-click the "Add Printer" icon in the "Printers" dialog box,
and then follow the instructions in the dialogs.
(4) If the printer is directly attached to your computer or is
connected to the Network using the LPR protocol, choose "Local
Printer" ,then click "Next>" and follow the instructions from step (8).
Otherwise, choose "Network printer".
(5) Connect to the desired printer by one of the methods:
* Perform a search in the Active Directory.
* Click "Next>" to locate the printer on the network, or
type the name using the following format.
\\printserver_name\share_name
Then follow the instructions from step (8).
If you are not familiar with the network, please consult with the
network administrator.
(6) Select the printer port where the printer device is connected to
directly, click "Next>", and go to step (8).
If the printer is connected to the Network using the LPR protocol,
select "Standard TCP/IP Port" of the "Create a new port" section,
and then click "Next>". The "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP
Printer Port Wizard" dialog box will be displayed. Click "Next>".
(7) Enter the Printer Name and IP Address in the "Printer Name and IP
Address" edit box, Click next. If you do not know the Printer Name or IP
Address, please consult with the network administrator.
The "Completing the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard"
dialog box will be displayed. Click "Finish".
(8) Click "Have Disk...." in the "Add Printer Wizard" and open the
drive in which you inserted the CD-ROM. Then, open
Drv_PCL6 > <LANG> > Win2K_XP folder.
Select the INF file in the folder and then click "OK".
(9) "Panasonic DP-C321" and "Panasonic DP-C401"appear in
the dialog box. Select the printer and click "Next".
(10) You may change the printer name, set it as a default printer a
shared printer or print the test page if you desire.
(11) Follow the instructions in the dialog to finish the driver
installation.
3.2 Installation on Windows(R) XP
=================================
(1) Start Windows(R) XP and insert the Printer Drivers, Utilities &
Documentation" CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
(2) Click the "Start" button. Click on "Printers and Faxes" and the printers
Dialog box will appear.
(3) Click on the "Add A Printer" icon under Printer tasks and the
"Add Printer Wizard" will apear.
(4) If the printer is directly attached to your computer or is
connected to the Network using the LPR protocol, choose "Local
Printer", then click "Next>" and follow the instructions from step (8).
Otherwise, choose "Network printer".
(5) Connect to the desired printer by one of the following methods:
* Perform a search in the Active Directory.
* Click "Next>" to locate the printer on the network, or
type the name using the following format.
\\printserver_name\share_name
Then follow the instructions from step (8).
If you are not familiar with the network, please consult with the

shared printer or print the test page if you desire.
(11) Follow the instructions in the dialog to finish the driver
installation.
3.3 Installation Using the Plug & Play Function
===============================================
Note that installation using the Plug & Play function is allowed
only if the printer is connected to the PC using a bi-directional
parallel cable.
(1) Connect the PC and printer using an interface cable with the
power supply to the PC and the printer switched off. Then, turn
on the power supply of the printer and the PC and start
Windows(R)2000/XP.
(2) The printer is detected and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog
box is displayed. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my
device (recommended)" and follow the screen instructions.
(3) Specify the location of the driver files in the CD-ROM and
click the "Next" button.
When "Specify a location" is selected, enter the drive name
(e.g. ->E:) and the path name (\Drv_PCL6 > <LANG> > \Win2K_XP)
of the downloaded driver in the "Copy manufacturer's files from"
input field on the screen and click the "OK" button.
(4) A message is displayed to notify that device files have been
found. Click the "Next" button. At this time, a "Digital
Signature Not Found" dialog is displayed. Click "Yes" to continue
installation.
(5) The required files are copied and a message is displayed to
notify that installation is completed. Click the "Finish"
button.
If an ICC profile is required for a user application
----------------------------------------------------
If an ICC profile of this printer is required for a user application
and if printing is via this printer driver, use the following ICC
profile.
For Panasonic DP-C321/C401 "mgc22el1.icm"
The ICC profile can be found in the "Drv_PCL6/<LANG>/ICC" directory of the
CD-ROM.
*1 If printing is via another driver (PostScript driver), use the ICC
profile added to that driver.
*2 When using Windows(R) 98, Windows(R) Me, Windows(R) 2000, or
Windows(R) XP, the above ICC profile is registered on the "Color
Management" tab during installation.
3.4 Uninstallation
==================
(1) Delete the printer icon you installed in the "Printers" dialog
box from the "Control Panel".
4. General Comments
===================
(1) Close all open applications before installing the printer driver.
(2) Always reboot the computer after installing an updated version of
the printer driver.
(3) If you have deleted an older version of the printer driver,
always reboot the computer before installing the new version.
(4) Some applications provide printing options pertaining to the
number of copies and collated copies. Always select the printing
options in the application unless the instructions specify
otherwise. Use the printer driver dialogs to select advanced
options such as 2-Sided Print, Sample Print, or options that are
not available in the application.
(5) Always close the printer driver dialogs and/or the application
Print dialog before you make any changes to the default settings
of the printer driver via the Control Panel.
(6) If your Job Offset output does not work well with the collated
copies, you may try to deselect the "Collate" option in the
application and check the "Collate" check box in the printer
driver.
5. Limitations
==============
(1) Depending on the application, if the resolution of the driver is
"Normal (600dpi)", the size of the print data may increase and
printing cannot be done properly. When this happens, specify the
following settings:
Specify "Resolution" to "Layout (300dpi)" or "Lines (200dpi)" at
the "Detailed Settings" of the "Graphics" tab.
(2) If "BitmapPrinting" is selected in Adobe(R) Illustrator(R) 10,
the graphics and lines may become undulated and may not print
nicely. In that case, uncheck the "BitmapPrinting" selection.
(3) When the print result of patterns or graphics is different from
the screen display, See the solutions below.
* Select High Speed, Standard or High Quality from Print Mode on
the Graphics tab.
* Select Standard from Print Mode and Photo, Presentation or Web
Pages from Image Types on the Graphics tab.
* Change the Resolution from Detailed Settings on the Graphics
tab.
(4) Set "Print True Type Font as Bitmap" to ON when printing is not
performed correctly with Bold or Outline selections.
(5) When the image data loaded into the Mailbox is printed out from
the scanner of this device, there may be a possibility of an
appearance of moire fringe depending on certain types of paper.
Please adjust the following parameters and reprint.
· Adjusts the "Scan resolution", "Reduce/Enlarge" to the most
suitable value (optimum value)
· Set the print rate to 100%.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
