3. Usage
4. Customized Configuration of Intel(R) AMT Status application
5. License Agreement
**********************************************************************
* 1. Overview
**********************************************************************
This Microsoft* Windows* application displays a message that indicates
whether Intel(R) AMT is enabled or is disabled on computers that have
Intel(R) AMT. The application also displays an icon in the
notification area of the Windows* taskbar, indicating the Intel(R)
AMT status. The status application is available only in English. The
Privacy Icon application is executed and installed as part of the
LMS-SOL setup.exe file.
NOTES:
- The Intel(R) AMT Status is available to users with
"administrator" privileges and "non-administrator" privileges.
- Changes made to Privacy Icon status display:
a. To not have the Privacy Icon status pop-up every time a user logs
into the machine, the status window has a new checkbox
implemented. The checkbox displays - 'Do not show this message
again', and if this checkbox is checked, then the automatic
pop-up display is disabled.
b. To re-enable the display of the pop-up of the Privacy Icon, the
checkbox displaying - 'Reactivate Notification' should be
checked.
c. The enabling/disabling of the display of the Privacy Icon pop-up
is specific to a particular user's settings and will not be the
same for a different user logging into the same machine. If the
pop-up is to be disabled for any user, the
MinimizePrivacyIconAtStart registry key should be modified, as
described below.
**********************************************************************
* 2. System Requirements
**********************************************************************
The Intel(R) AMT Status application is supported on the following
operating systems:
- Windows XP32 SP2/XP64
- Windows Vista 32/64
- Windows 7
**********************************************************************
3. Usage
**********************************************************************
The Intel(R) AMT Status application is installed as part of the
LMS-SOL when the Setup.exe is executed. After being installed, the
application appears on the task bar and is operated every time
Windows* boots.
**********************************************************************
4. Customized configuration of Intel(R) AMT Status application
**********************************************************************
a) To check Intel(R) AMT status: Run atchk.exe.
To set the computer to always display the status icon on the
Windows taskbar:
(i) Run the enable.reg registry file (described below)
(ii) Copy the atchk.exe to - C:\Program Files\Intel\AMT Status
b) Files included with the Intel(R) AMT status application:
(i) atchksrv.exe - This service will be automatically started
when Windows* boots. This service takes care
of the administrator privileges needed by the
"non-administrator" users to make use of the
Intel(R) AMT Status application. And hence,
the Intel(R) AMT Status is displayed for
"non-administrator" users also.
(ii) enable.reg - Run this file once to start the application each
time Windows boots. Note: This file assumes that
the Intel(R) AMT status application is located at:
"C:\Program Files\Intel\AMT Status\atchk.exe". If
the application was installed in a different path
(i.e. under "D:" or under "Program Files(x86)",
then the enable.reg file should be modified
accordingly.
(iii) disable.reg - Run this file once to stop the application from
starting when Microsoft Windows boots.
The following files enable computer manufacturers to customize the
application:
(iv) oemlogo.sam - Modify this bitmap to display a custom graphic
in the message window. If this bitmap is
located in the same directory as atchk.exe,
the application displays this graphic in place
of the default Intel logo. The bitmap must
conform to the following specifications:
- 64 by 42 pixels
- Overall file size of less than 15k bytes
- The file must be renamed to oemlogo.bmp
and must be of bitmap format
(v) oementry.reg - The registry keys in this file illustrate how
to modify the Windows registry to change the
default behavior of the application.
OemUrl: If this registry entry is found, the specified URL will be
used for the “click here” URL instead of the default URL
(http://www.intel.com/vpro).
MinimizePrivacyIconAtStart: If this registry entry is found and is
set to a value other than 0, the application will be minimized to the
taskbar. Otherwise, the application displays the dialog when it
starts.
TRACE: If this registry entry is found and it set to the value of 1,
a log file is created. The log file can be useful for validation and
debugging. The log file is named: <Windows directory>\temp\atchk.log
