Chkfirm, exe is a utility for checking firmware version of a Broadcom NetXtreme Ethernet Adapter.
This utility will run in DOS real mode. There are only a few arguments.
Chkfirm will display MAC address, and the version of all firmware stored in the NVRAM of the adapter.
This utility will support multiple cards and display NVRAM dir info on screen.
This utility does not support Selfboot and Hardware Selfboot Firmware.

This utility will accept the following option switches.

-c <num> specifies UUT device number
When multiple devices are in the system, the devices are numbered starting from zero.
The user can select specific devices to test by entering the device number.

Example: -c 2 (selected device #2)
            -c 2-4 (selected device #2 through #4)
            -c @ (selected all devices)
-c (ERROR: if no device number entered, return code "6" will be issued)
-c 100 (ERROR: if a device number which is greater than the total number
of Broadcom devices in system, return code "5" will be issued)

-cname <device+refsil+refbond> specify device ID, silent rev and bond rev to match with detected devices.
If there is no match to the detected devices, an error level 9 will be issued.
Matching will only take place if only one device is detected or only one device is specified by -c option.

Example: -c 2 -cname 1698A1/A1 (selected device #2 and the matching device id is 1698, the silent rev is A1, the bond rev is A1)
-c 2-4 -cname 1698A1/A1 (no match will take place since 3 devices are selected)
-c 0 -cname 5764mB0/B0 (selected device #0 and the matching part is 5764m, the silent rev is B0, the bond rev is B0)

-bootver <version>
Use -bootver option switch to check bootcode version.
If there is a mismatch of bootcode version, software will issue a return code of 11.

Example:
-c 0 -bootver 3.04a (selected device #0 and the matching bootcode version is 3.04a)

-asfver <version>
Use -asfver option switch to check ASF firmware version.
If there is a mismatch of ASF firmware version, software will issue a return code of 12.

Example:
-c 0 -bootver 3.04a -asfver 5.05 (selected device #0. The matching bootcode version is 3.04a and the matching ASF firmware version is 5.05)

Return Code
If only one device is detected in the system or only one device is specified by -c option, a return code that reflects the current content of the NVRAM will be returned.
If multiple devices are in the system or multiple devices are specified by -c option, a return code 10 will be returned and the return code will not reflect the content of the NVRAM.

This utility will have the following return code.

0: Bootcode and ASF are found but TMP block is NOT presence.
1: No Broadcom NetXtreme Ethernet Adapter has been detected in the system.
2: EEPROM or NVRAM read error.
3: BootCode is not found or BootCode version is not 2.6 or later
4: BootCode firmware is found, TMP block is NOT presence and ASF firmware is either not found or not completely installed.
5: Invalid input for command line option switches
6: No device has been selected for test.
7: BootCode firmware is found, TMP block is present and ASF firmware is either not found or not completely installed.
8: Bootcode, ASF and TPM are presence.
9: Detected device does not match with device specified by -cname.
10: Multiple devices are in the system or multiple devices are specified by -c option.
11: Version of Bootcode in NVRAM does not match with -bootver parameter.
12: Version of ASF Firmware in NVRAM does not match with -asfver parameter.
13: Selfboot firmware is found in NVRAM.
