Updating from a Previous Driver Version
----------------------------------------
This assumes the Xircom CreditCard Token Ring Adapter is
functioning using a previous driver version. It is
recommended the adapter drivers be completely removed and
then reinstalled using this version.
Windows NT 4.0:
To remove the Xircom CreditCard Token Ring Adapter from
Windows NT 4.0 Double click the 'My Computer', 'Control
Panel', and 'Network' icons and click the 'Adapters' tab.
Highlight the Xircom CreditCard Token Ring Adapter and click
'Remove'. A dialog box will appear warning you the device
will be removed from your system. Click 'yes' to continue
then click 'close'. After the bindings are stored the
'Network Settings Change' dialog box will appear. Click
'yes' to restart the computer then follow the steps in
section 3 of this document to re-install the adapter.
Windows 9x:
To remove the Xircom CreditCard Token Ring Adapter from
Windows 95/98, follow the instructions in the UNINSTALL.TXT
file located on the Xircom Network Drivers disk or CDROM,
and then follow the steps in section 4 of this document to
re-install the adapter.
Known Limitations
------------------
-Hot Swap and Standby mode:
Using Win95/98 The CreditCard Token Ring Adapter must be
stopped using the 'PC Card' icon in Control Panel in order
for the adapter to go into Standby and Hot-Swap mode,
otherwise the computer may freeze. If this happens you may
have to restart your computer.
-Media disconnect:
If the network cable is disconnected from the MAU and
reconnected while the adapter is functioning the network
connection must be re-established via Hot-Swap or a
Shutdown\Restart of the computer.
-Resource Managers:
The DOS drivers and utilities do not work with the previous
resource manager, CTCFG.EXE. CXCFG.EXE must be used if the
computer has Card and Socket Services installed.
-Promiscuous Mode:
Only the 16 bit DOS drivers (NDIS and ODI) support
promiscuous mode. The 32 bit drivers do NOT support
promiscuous mode at this time.
-Lantastic:
After running the LANtastic installation program, you will
need to edit your CONFIG.SYS to add the following line:
AFTER the line: DEVICE=C:\LANTASTI\CXCFG.EXE
ADD the line: DEVICE=C:\LANTASTI\CTNDIS.EXE
If the node running the CreditCard Token Ring Adapter is
the first node to insert on the ring in a LANtastic
network, you need to edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to add the
AUTOOPEN=NO parameter, as follows:
[CXCFG_NIF]
AUTOOPEN=NO
-When using IBM PCS Program version 2.3 with Novell NetWare,
always load the Novell NetWare stack first, then start PCS.
-When using IBM LAN Support Program v1.31 and IBM PCS
program with CTNDIS.EXE, some systems may freeze or lock
up. The IBM LAN Support Program v1.36 works properly in the
same configuration.
-For HP OmniBooks, INT 3 must be used for Windows for
Workgroups when using the NDIS3 driver (CTNDW3.386).
-Hot Swap and Power Management are not supported under
Windows for Workgroups. This is a limitation of the
operating system.
-Hot Swap and Power Management are not supported under
Windows NT. This is a limitation of the operating system.
-Automatic Ring Detection:
Automatic ring speed detection is supported in the DOS
Drivers. If a ring speed is not specified, the driver will
attempt to detect ring speed. This feature cannot be used
unless there are other stations inserted into the ring.
-In the Windows environment, LINESPEED is selected during
the installation process.
-The following configuration examples are provided for
setting the LINESPEED keyword:
-In DOS environment using ODI driver:
Edit the NET.CFG being used by the CTODI driver to include
the parameter LINESPEED.
Example NET.CFG:
link driver ctodi
int 11
port 320
linespeed 4
-For use in an OS/2 environment see Section 6.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
For more help, visit our Driver Support section for step-by-step videos on how to install drivers for every file type.
