About This Software
-------------------

This software contains the Windows .inf file for the IT8888 PCI-ISA Bridge.
There is no actual driver for the IT8888.  This .inf file allows Windows to
identify the bridge chip and removes the yellow exclamation mark from the
Device Manager.

Installing the Driver
---------------------

    To install the driver, go to the section denoted by the version of
Microsoft Windows you are using. Afterwards, you can check the installation by
finding the board in the Device Manager under 'System Devices' (it should be
shown without a yellow exclamation mark) called 'ITE 8888 PCI to ISA bridge).


Windows XP Service Pack 2

    When booting Windows the first time after installing the new hardware,
Windows will detect the hardware and start the "Found New Hardware Wizard". 
Select 'No, not this time'. Click 'Next'. Select 'Install from a list or 
specific location'. Click 'Next'. Select 'Search for the best driver in these
locations'. Also select 'Include this location in the search'. Click 'Browse'.
Browse to the directory that you unzipped/installed the software to. Click 'Ok'. 
Then click 'Next'. (If a warning dialog pops up click 'Continue Anyway' to 
continue.) Click 'Finish' to close the wizard.


Windows Vista Service Pack 1

    When booting windows the first time after installing the new hardware,
Windows will detect the hardware and start the "Found New Hardware Wizard".
(If not, open the device manager, right click on the device, shown as 'Other
PCI bridge device' and click 'Update Driver Software...'). Click 'Browse my
computer for driver software', then 'Let me pick from a list of device
drivers on my computer'. Select all devices, then click 'Next'. Click 'Have
Disk', then 'Browse', and browse to the directory where the file exists. 
Click 'OK' on the Install From Disk window, then click 'Next'. (If a warning
dialog pops up click 'Continue Anyway' to continue). Click 'Close' to close
the wizard.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
