SIS Via fix.txt Driver File Contents (bp193drv.exe)

Fix for WinTV driver version 1.9C to fix lock up 
problems with SIS or VIA based motherboards



To install:

Copy the BT848.DRV file into the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, 
overwriting the existing version.

Then run the SIS_VIA.REG file. 

Reboot the system.

The WinTV applications should now work without causing system lockups.




Tested motherboard chip sets:

VIA Chipsets

   2005- works with fix
   586-works with fix
   586B5220 VIA MVP3 100 Mhz(VT82C598AT & VT82C586B)- Works without fix 
   2012(vp3)-works with fix
   VT82C580VP-Works with fix
   5220 VIA MVP3 100 Mhz(VT82C598AT & VT82C586B)

SIS Chipsets

   5598-Works without fix
   5597- should work (?)
   5595- No good
   5503- Works with fix

Note: this may not work on all SIS/VIA motherboards.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
