Installation

Issues
======

When you use Windows Server 2008, install Desktop Experience via Administrative Tools in advance.
(1) Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager
(2) Click [Add Features].
(3) Select the [Desktop Experience] checkbox and click the [Next] button.
(4) Click the [Install] button.
(5) When installation results are displayed, click the [Close] button.
(6) When you are asked if you want to restart your computer, click the [Yes] button to restart.

This software supports the following OS:
- Windows Vista (x86/x64)
- Windows Server 2008 (x86/x64)

Issues 
========

1. Notes on Using the HS WIA Driver
(1) Touch Panel during WIA Connection
- During WIA scan, the operation panel only displays special screens for RemoteScan.
- By pressing the [CANCEL] button on the operation panel, a WIA connection session can be forcibly terminated.
* Buttons other than [CANCEL] are disabled.
* Canceling from the client application or a COMMAND CENTER scan job is possible.
* WIA scan connection continues until image transfer to the client PC is finished.  Therefore, it may take several minutes before other operations become available after the scan is completed.
(2) Restrictions on the HS WIA Driver
- No notification report is transmitted whether WIA scan is completed normally or abnormally.
- When power failure occurs during WIA scan, the job will be lost.  Start all over again.

(3) When using Windows Server 2008, set the startup type for the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service to [Automatic] using the management tool beforehand.
 1. Right-click [My Computer].
 2. Select [Manage].
 3. Click [Services and Applications].
 4. Click [Services].
 5. Double-click [Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)].
 6. On the [General] tab, select [Automatic] in the [Startup Type] box.
 7. Click [Apply] and [OK].

(4) When using Windows Server 2008, set the startup type for the PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator service to [Automatic] using the management tool beforehand.
 1. Right-click [My Computer].
 2. Select [Manage].
 3. Click [Services and Applications].
 4. Click [Services].
 5. Double-click [PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator].
 6. On the [General] tab, select [Automatic] in the [Startup Type] box.
 7. Click [Apply] and [OK].

(5) When you use an imaging application to scan a document, configure the following settings before scanning:  When the settings have not been configured, scanned images become black.
1. Select [Tools] – [Options] – [Scan] from the imaging application menu bar.
2. Click the [Advanced] button.
3. Check [Native].

(6) When you click the [Cancel] button to cancel scanning of a document using Photoshop or other TWAIN-compliant imaging applications, restart the application to scan the document.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
