Use in Enhanced Safety Applications
This Product is designed, developed and manufactured for general use, and is suitable without limitation for use in 
 - general office environments, 
 - for personal use and 
 - for household use.
 It is NOT designed, developed and manufactured for use in environments bearing extremely high risk potentials like  fatal risks or dangers.  which require extremely high safety measures, and which could otherwise lead to death, personal injury, severe physical damage or other similar losses (hereinafter called g Use in High Safety Environmentsh). Such environments include without limitations, use in: 
 - nuclear power core control, 
 - airplane control, 
 - air traffic control, 
 - mass transport operation control, 
 - life support, and
 - weapon launching control.  
You should NEVER use this product without making sure that all necessary safety measures have been sufficiently taken, to comply with the necessary requirements for its Use in High Safety Environments.  If you wish to use this product in High Safety Environments, please consult our sales person in charge before such use.

      Intel(R) Pentium(R) III 600MHz or higher Processor (recommended)

      64MB or higher (128MB or higher recommended)
  - Hard-disk space
      10MB of available hard-disk space

2. Cautions Regarding USB and Your Computer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

 o Be sure to use the USB cable packaged with ScanSnap! fi-4110EOX2 for connecting it to your computer.
    
 o Be sure to wait at least five seconds before re-inserting or re-connecting the USB interface cable.  
   If the USB cable is re-inserted immediately after it is disconnected, ScanSnap! may not function properly. 
    
 o Do not turn ScanSnap! on or off with the USB interface cable inserted. 
   ScanSnap! may not function properly. 
    
 o Correct operation has been confirmed with a standard personal computer installed with the following USB host controller chips. 
   Note, however, that your computer may not function properly depending on your specific design specifications or differences in your operating environment. 
    
      - Intel 82371 AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
      - Intel 82371 SB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
      - Intel 82801 AA USB Universal Host Controller
      - Intel 82440MX PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
      - SiS 7001 USB Open Host Controller
      - VIA USB Universal Host Controller
      - EC USB Open Host Controller
      - AMD 750 PCI to USB Open Host Controller

 o Use the display at High Color or higher setting. The display may sometimes be corrupted at 256 or less colors.

3. Cautions during Installation
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Be sure to connect ScanSnap! only after installing ScanSnap! Driver. 
ScanSnap! cannot be registered to the system correctly if ScanSnap! Driver is not installed.   
    
Do not install ScanSnap! Driver in the root directory. 
ScanSnap! Driver may not function properly. Install ScanSnap! Driver on the appropriate directory. 
    
 o The path name for the installation directory will automatically be generated in DOS short form if it exceeds 121 characters. 
   When installing ScanSnap! Driver, limit the path name for the installation directory to 121 characters. 

 o When installing ScanSnap! Driver on Windows 2000 or Windows XP, first log in as Administrator (or as a user having Administrator permission on Windows XP Home Edition). 
   
 o Do not use the following characters in the name of the installation directory. ScanSnap! Driver may not function properly if these characters are used. 

        \ / ; : , . * ? " < > |
        
 o Be sure to restart your computer after installing ScanSnap! Driver.
   The re-boot registers ScanSnap! to the system. 
    
 o Uninstall ScanSnap! Driver before re-installing ScanSnap! Driver. 
   ScanSnap! Driver is not installed properly if it has not been uninstalled completely. 

 o Before updating ScanSnap! Driver, be sure to uninstall the old version, restart you computer, and then install the new version of ScanSnap! Driver.  
   If you do not restart your computer, ScanSnap! Driver will not be installed properly.

4. Cautions during usage
---------------------------------------------------------------------

 o Document sizes that can be automatically selected
            A4 (portrait), B6 (portrait)
            A5 (portrait), Business card (portrait)
            B5 (portrait), Letter (portrait)
            Legal (portrait)

When Acrobat(R) or Acrobat(R) Reader is the selected application, please be aware of the following.  

When Acrobat(R)Reader is started and Acrobat(R) is already the selected application, scanned data is passed to Acrobat(R). 

Likewise, when Acrobat(R) is start Acrobat(R) Reader already running, the scanned data is passed to Acrobat(R) Reader. 

When the selected application is Acrobat(R) or Acrobat(R) Reader, always set the file type  to "PDF". 

 o When the selected application is Acrobat(R) or Acrobat(R) Reader, and no pages have been saved (i.e, all blank pages, anerror occurs at the first page, etc.), Acrobat(R) or Acrobat(R) Reader will start but no images will be displayed.

5. About selecting ScanSnap! Business Card as the application to link (Launcher)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

 o When BizImage is started, the "Launcher" setting automatically becomes BizImage. 
   This setting is restored when you exit BizImage.  

 o While the ScanSnap! Monitor "Scan and Save Settings" screen is displayed, scanning cannot be performed with BizImage.  
   Close the "Scan and Save Settings" screen, and try again.

6. Cautions during Uninstallation
---------------------------------------------------------------------

 o Perform uninstallation from "Add/Remove Programs" in the control panel. 
    
 o When uninstalling ScanSnap! Driver from Windows 2000 or Windows XP, first log in as Administrator (or as a user having Administrator permission on Windows XP Home Edition). 
    
 o Be sure to restart your computer after uninstalling ScanSnap! Driver.
 
 o The Windows "Add New Hardware Wizard" will be started if ScanSnap! is connected when restarting your computer after uninstallation. 
   At uninstallation, either turn ScanSnap! off, or disconnect the USB cable.

7. Other Cautions
---------------------------------------------------------------------

 o Two or more ScanSnap! scanners cannot be connected at the same time.  
    
  Avoid the following during scanning or while waiting for the scanner initialize (the scan lamp is calibrating). 
  The system may become unstable.  
    
            - Inserting or disconnecting the USB cable connected to ScanSnap!
            - Turning ScanSnap! on or off
            - Uninstalling ScanSnap! Driver
      
 o Scanning may not perform properly if the system is started after your computer enters the power save mode or suspend mode during scanning or while the lamp is calibrating. 

   If this happens, turn your scanner off (by pulling out the power cable) then back on again, and then try scanning again. 

 o Documents longer than the Paper size setting cannot be scanned. You will be notified of a double-feed in this case. 
   If a double-feed frequently occurs, check the Paper size setting.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
