3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card Unattended Install Instructions for Windows 2000 ================================================================== SUMMARY ======= This procedure describes the process of doing an unattended installation of Windows 2000 with the 3C575 family adapters. THE UNATTENED INSTALLATION ========================== The unattended installation can be performed: Step 1: Copy the I386 directory from the windows 2000 CD-ROM to a network share drive. For example: copy files to d:\i386. Step 2: Create the following directory tree: \i386\$oem$\$1\3com Step 3: Copy all the files under \DISK1 directory of installation CD to the \$oem$\$1\3com directory: Step 4: Copy the sample answer file (batchw2k.txt) to the i386 directory. Make any changes needed to customize your installation. Step 5: Copy batchw2k.bat to i386 directory. Open batchw2k.bat with a text editor. Make necessary change to the source directory: For example: winnt /s:g: /u:batchw2k.txt Step 6: Boot using a floppy diskette loading HIMEM.SYS, EMM386.EXE, and SMARTDRV.EXE. Loading these files makes the installation proceed much quicker. Step 7: Connect to the server. Run the batchw2k.bat. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
