3Com Corporation 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card NetWare DOS/ODI Driver Installation Information WINDOWS 3.1X AND NOVELL NETWARE This file describes how to configure the 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card for use with Windows V3.1x (Not Windows for Workgroups) and Novell NetWare. NOTE: The following instructions assume you have not installed any other network adapter in the notebook. If networking has already been installed, some of the instructions will not apply or appear accurate. Consult with your MIS department for further instructions. Before installing the network driver, you should know the transport used in the Novell Network (typically IPX/SPX) and have access to the following software components: - Novell NetWare VLM Client disks for DOS and Windows - The LAn Installation Disk Network Driver Installation Instructions 1. Boot the notebook in DOS. If the PC starts up in Windows, exit Windows to return to the DOS prompt. 2. Place the Novell VLM client disk #1 in the floppy drive. Enter: a:\install This opens the NetWare client installation screen. Use the down arrow key to move from line-to-line. 3. Make sure that the information is correct. When you are asked to select the driver for your network card, press <Enter> to see the list of supported adapters. 4. Select Other Drivers. 4. When prompted for a driver disk, insert the LAN Installation Disk and press <Enter>. FE575C-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus -Fast Ethernet should appear as the first item on the list. 5. Select the CardBus PC Card and press <ENTER>. 6. Specify the frame type by pressing <ENTER> and choosing the appropriate type from the list. Press <Enter> to select your choice. (You will not need to select an I/O Base. Use the default.) 7. Press F10 to return to the main installation screen. Position the cursor on line 6 and press <Enter>. The installer prompts for several diskettes and notifies you when the installation is complete. 8. Press <Enter> to exit the installation program and return to DOS. 9. Reboot the notebook by pressing <CTRL><ALT><DEL>. When you go into Windows You will be able to LOGIN to the Novell Servers. %VER Version 1.000.000Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
