Installation ============ If you have SMX-150 Series Camera CD insert it into your CD-ROM drive and press the Install Driver button in the Autorun program. This will install the camera driver automatically. Below are listed instructions for manual SMX-150 Series Camera installation. In this example, driver files are placed to 'C:\Tmp' directory. Attach Camera to USB2.0 connector. A. Update Sumix SMX-150 Series USB2.0 Camera Driver. Under Windows 2000: 1. Select 'Start'->'Settings'->'Control Panel' 2. Double click on 'System' 3. Select 'Hardware' tab 4. Press 'Device Manager' button 5. Expand 'Imaging devices' 6. Double click on 'SMX-150 Series USB2.0 Camera' 7. Select 'Driver' tab 8. Press 'Update Driver...' button 9. Press 'Next' button 10. Select 'Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver' and press 'Next' button 11. Press 'Have Disk...' button 12. Browse to 'C:\Tmp' directory 13. Press 'OK' button 14. Press 'Next' button 15. After warning about 'not digitally-signed by Microsoft' press 'Continue Anyway' button 16. And press 'Finish' button to close the Hardware Update Wizard. Under Windows XP: 1. Select 'Start'->'Settings'->'Control Panel' 2. Double click on 'System' 3. Select 'Hardware' tab 4. Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)' and press 'Next' button 10. Select 'Don't search. I will choose the driver to install' and press 'Next' button 11. After warning about 'has not passed Windows Logo testing ...' press 'Continue Anyway' button 16. And press 'Finish' button to close the Hardware Update Wizard. Notes ===== 1. To be sure you are always using updated driver repeat the above sequence for EVERY USB connector where your camera is used. Windows remembers and loads different versions of driver on different UBS connectors for the same device (camera, for example). 2. To prevent white "flies" and shifted rows appearence on the camera picture validate that each IDE device uses DMA/UltraDMA transfer mode on your PC. In PIO (Programmed Input Out) Mode, the CPU gets involved in transferring the data from or to the storage device to or from system memory through the input or output ports. In DMA Mode, the job of transferring the data is handed over to a bus-mastering system controller called the DMA controller. The DMA controller is set up or programmed to handle the DMA transfer. This relieves the processor from the duty of preforming the data transfer so it can do other tasks. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
