B) ISSUES FIXED IN THIS DRIVER

09/09/04-  Fixed Setup Script.
Custom "Setup.exe" script was not working when called by another application.  Script now detects %ENV variable "__PROCESS_HISTORY" and sets current directory accordingly.

08/30/04-  Combined WHQL.
This driver uses a custom script "Setup.exe" to properly install WHQL'd drivers on Win XP and Server 2003.  WinXP INSTALL.INI settings are found in INSTALLXP.INI, Win Server 2003 INSTALL.INI settings are found in INSTALLWS03.INI.


08/23/04-  Hot plug.
This driver fixes the "Hot-plug" issue that is present on IBM servers using remote server cards that incorporate the onboard faked EDID.

Be sure to UNINSTALL any previous version of the RADEON display driver prior to installing this version. See the "Un-Install" section for instructions.

D) USING 2K-XP-WS03-7.98-040120a-IBM-C

Overview

This package is a driver only release.  
Setup just installs the display driver with no control panel.

Steps:

- Copy and unzip 2K-XP-WS03-7.98-040120a-IBM-C.zip to a local directory.
- Close all programs
- Click the START button and select the RUN menu item.
- Click the BROWSE button.
- Browse to the directory where 2K-XP-WS03-7.98-040120a-IBM-C was unzipped
- Select Setup.exe and click OK to run the program.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.

- Start Windows.
- Click the START button.
- Click the RUN menu item.
- Click the BROWSE button. Browse to the directory where the files were unpacked after running 2K-XP-WS03-7.98-040120a-IBM-C. 
  (The default directory is C:\ATI\support\2K-XP-WS03-7.98-040120a-IBM-C.)
- Select SETUP.EXE and press OK.
- Follow the instructions displayed in the help.

E) UN-INSTALL

To un-install this software;
- Click START, go to SETTINGS and select CONTROL PANEL. 
- Launch ADD/REMOVE programs.
- Select "ATI Display Driver" and then click the ADD/REMOVE button. 
- RESTART Windows.

To un-install temporary files from the DOWNLOAD bundle;
- Delete the directory where you downloaded and unzipped 
2K-XP-WS03-7.98-040120a-IBM-C.

NOTE: If you unbundled the files into a different directory, simply delete that directory.

F) ISSUES YOU MAY ENCOUNTER:

VERSION CONFLICTS

When installing Display Drivers or Software a "Version Conflict" message may appear multiple times during the installation.

If you encounter a "VERSION CONFLICT" message while installing this display driver select the "NO" option to proceed.  

* Selecting "NO" will ensure that the components of this driver bundle will replace your existing driver components.
* Selecting "YES" will result in a MIX of new and old driver components, which is undesirable.

CONFIRM FILE REPLACE

When installing Display Drivers or Software a "Confirm File Replace" message may appear multiple times during the installation.

If you encounter a "Confirm File Replace" message while installing this display driver select the "YES" option to proceed.  

Selecting "YES" will ensure that all the components of this driver bundle will replace your existing driver components.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
