                         IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES

=============================================================================

- The following update process must be followed to ensure a trouble free updating

  of your baseboard.

	1.BMC firmware to 00.40 or later

	2.BIOS R0038 or later

	3.Manageability Engine (ME) firmware 01.11 or later

	4.Latest FRU/SDR package specific to the baseboard.

- This BMC 00.40 release contains a boot block (UBOOT) update. This update is

  automatically performed and no jumpers need to be moved.

  All IPMI user and channel settings will remain intact after the update.

- A MIB (Management Information Base) file is now be part of the BMC release

  package. This file is to be used with a MIB browser and the BMC

  SNMP feature.

=============================================================================

                            INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

=============================================================================

1. Copy the fwpiaupd.efi, ipmi.efi, BMC_0040.ima, BMC40.nsh to the storage

   medium of your choice. This can be a hard disk, floppy disk or USB

   flash drive.

   All of the files in the zip archive must reside in the same directory.

2. Boot to EFI and then run the BMC40.nsh script file to update the

   Integrated BMC and Intel Remote Management Module 3 firmware.

   Using fwpiaupd.efi with your own command line parameters is not supported

   and doing so is at your own risk!

3. Power off the system and cycle AC power

4. Install latest available FRU/SDR package

=============================================================================

                           KNOWN ISSUES/WORKAROUNDS

=============================================================================

- For the IOH thermal margin sensor to work properly you will need the following:

	" Production version baseboard (Has B3 or later stepping of the IOH silicon)

	" BIOS R0028 (or later)

	" BMC 00.31 (or later)

- Users of the KVM feature will need to update their client Java JRE to version

  1.6 (JRE 6) or later otherwise the KVM redirection application will not launch.

  The latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) update can be downloaded from here:

  http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

- BMC FW rev 00.40 does contain support for the Node Manager (NM) feature but

  you will also need to install the latest Management Engine (ME) firmware

  which rev 01.10 or beyond ME firmware update package is currently available.
