MegaRAID Storage Manager(MSM) Installation
==========================================

The kit contains both mode of installation. The interactive and non-interactive.
To, install the product using interactive mode, the user may execute setup or may execute the command "msiexec /i <.msi file>" from the installation disk.
To, install the product in a non-interactive or silent mode, the user should use the command "msiexec /i <.msi file> -qn" from the installation disk.

The installer provides the user with three types of setup option.
1. Complete - This will install all the features of the product.
2. Client Components Only - The storelib feature of the product will not be installed in this type of installation. As a result, the resident system will only be able to administer and configure all the servers in the network, but will not be able to serve as a server.
3. StandAlone - Only the networking feature will not be installed in this case. So, the resident system will not a part of network. In other words, the system will not be able to browse any other MSM servers in the network, nor, any one will recognize it as a server.

The interactive mode of installation will help the user to select any of the setup type, but the non-interactive/silent mode, will install the Complete feature.


MSM Uninstallation
==================
The product can be uninstalled using the shortcut "MegaRAID Storage Manager/Uninstall" from Start Menu. The product can also be removed from Add/Remove Program.

Naming Convention of MSM Installer
==================================
The naming convention of the installer since MSM Beta version 2.2 is:
  1. Its a 8 character name with 3 characters as extention
  2. The extention is zip
  3. The first three character of the name is "MSM"
  4. The fourth character of the name is the major version number <M>
  5. The fifth and sixth character of the name is the minor version number <mm>
  6. The seventh and eigth character of the name is the release version of the installer only<RR>.

  The name will look like : MSM<M><mm><RR>.zip

How to install SAS SNMP Agent and to configure SNMP Agent in Windows.
=====================================================================
Step 1. Run setup.exe from DISK1 (except for Client Only Mode)
Step 2. Now use SNMP Manager to retrieve the SAS data (It is assumed that you have compiled LSI-AdapterSAS.mib file already). The LSI-AdapterSAS.mib file is available at the same location as setup.exe
Step 3. Use Trap utility to get the traps.


NOTE : Before you install the Agent, Make sure that SNMP Service is already installed in the system.

If you do not have SNMP Service installed on your system, Follow the following steps to install SNMP Service for Windows System.
Step 1. Select Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel.
Step 2. Select "Add/Remove Windows components" in the left side of the "Add/Remove Programs" window.
Step 3. Select "Management and Monitoring Tools".
Step 4. Click Next.

Now you will be prompted to insert Windows CD and SNMP Service will be installed.

Steps to Configure SNMP Service on Server side
Step 1. Select "Administrative Tools" from Control Panel
Step 2. Select Services from "Administrative Tools" window.
Step 3. Select SNMP Service in the "Services" window.
Step 4. Open SNMP Service.
Step 5. Goto "Security" tab and make sure that "Accept SNMP Packets from any host" is selected.
Step 6. Goto "Traps" tab and the list of host IPs to which you want the traps to be sent with community name.
