Network Jack NJ200 Software Release Notes
-----------------------------------------

Purpose of this Release
-----------------------

This release contains Version 1.0.2 of the NJ200 firmware and its associated configuration software. This release contains certain bug fixes and enhancements.

Revision Numbers
----------------

The revision numbers of the release components are as follows:
	- NJ200 Firmware - Version 1.0.2
	- Local Configuration Manager	- Version 1.0.2
	- Central Configuration Manager	- Version 1.0.2
	- Installation package - Version 1.0.2

Enhancements/Changes in this Release
------------------------------------

[1] The Configuration Managers (CCM and LCM) now support the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.

[2] When you connect to an NJ200 using the LCM, you will now see the serial number and firmware version of the NJ200 in addition to its MAC address.

[3] Version 1.0.2 of the NJ200 firmware incorporates an enhanced verification and recovery mechanism when writing data to the NJ200 flash.

[4] The NJ200 now maintains an internal error log, which it updates any time a system error occurs. To retrieve the information in the error log, you must use a DOS utility. Contact software engineering for access to this utility.

[5] Improved LED notification mechanism during (and after, in case of a failure) the POST routine.

Enhancements/Changes from Releases earlier than Version 1.0.0
-------------------------------------------------------------
[1] The default IP address of the NJ200 has been changed from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.252.

[2] The NJ200 maintains its static IP address while it searches for a DHCP address.

[3] If configured for DHCP, the NJ200 will continue to periodically search for a DHCP IP address until it obtains one.

[4] The NJ200 supports upto 4 trap destination hosts. This is required for 3NS support.

[5] The default multicast rate limit for PAN ports is 3%.

[6] The default VLAN ID is 1.

[7] The Central Configuration Manager allows you to configure parameters for a single device from the properties page.

[8] The Central Configuration Manager can import/export configuration settings from/to a file.

[9] You can now clear the statistics counters using the Central Configuration Manager.

[10] You can run only one instance of the Local or Central Configuration Manager on a single machine at any point of time. An error message appears if the user tries to run multiple NJ200 configuration managers at the same time.

[11] The Local Configuration Manager no longer has the 'Refresh' button.

Known Bugs/Issues and General Information
-----------------------------------------

[1]
The NJ200 firmware periodically writes configuration changes, if any, to the flash. This operation takes approximately 1 second to complete. To ensure the integrity of the flash during this operation, interrupts to the management port of the NJ200 are masked off. Therefore, any management query that is sent to the NJ200 during this small time interval will be dropped by the NJ200. NOTE that the switching functionality of the NJ200 is NOT affected in any way.

[2]
The Central and Local Configuration Managers use the same UDP port to communicate with the NJ200. Therefore, the user cannot run both these configuration softwares on a single host machine at the same time.

[3]
3Com will include support for the NJ200 in a Service Pack for 3Com Network
Supervisor V4.0. Please use the Live Update feature in 3Com Network Supervisor
to check for availability.
