This package contains the run-time library and input drivers for 
the Matrox Display Wall Controller product line.

Supported hardware and software
===============================

- This Run-Time software package should be used with Display Wall Driver Package v2.07.06.009.
	
- This Run-Time software has been tested for the following 
  Display Wall Controller products:

  - Matrox VDA

- This Run-Time software has been tested for the following 
  operating systems:

  - Windows 2000 Workstation
  - Windows XP Pro 
  - Windows XP Pro + Service Pack 2


Software Setup (Windows XP)
===========================

(1) Shut down your computer, then install both your input card(s) and your output card(s). (Each input card and output card requires one PCI-X slot.)

(2) Connect your video-out cables to the output card(s). Connect a monitor to the main connector ("1/4") on the break-out cable attached to the main connector (A) on your graphics card.

(3) Restart your computer.

(4) For each graphics card installed, Windows detects a "Video Controller", a "Multimedia Controller" and a "PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller".

(5) When prompted to install a driver for the "Video Controller", click "Cancel". The driver for that device will be installed by the Matrox Setup program.

(6) When prompted for the first "Multimedia Controller", click "Install the software from a specific location" > "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" > "Have Disk" and browse to the "mtxvw.inf" file. 

(7) When prompted for subsequents "Multimedia Controllers" and ""PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controllers", click "Install the software automatically". The same driver files installed in the previous step should be used for these devices.

(8) When Windows Plug-and-Play hardware installation is finished, run the display driver installation program included with your Matrox hardware. After the installation is completed, restart your system for the changes to take effect.

(9) Double-click the PowerDesk icon on your Windows taskbar to access the PowerDesk main interface. To see the PowerDesk icon in Windows XP, you may need to click the "Show hidden icons" button on your Windows taskbar.

(10) Select "Multi-Display Setup" then choose your preferred display resolution, refresh rate, and display layout.

(11) Connect your remaining monitors according to the picture shown in the PowerDesk user interface.

(12) Select "Multi-display Setup'. Choose your preferred resolution, refresh rate, and display layout.

(13) Connect your remaining monitors according to the picture shown in the PowerDesk user interface.

(14) Connect your video-in cables.


Updating your software
======================

- To upgrade the Matrox Display Driver, simply run the included Setup program.

- To upgrade the run-time software, follow these steps 

  (a) Click "Start" > "Settings"* > "Control Panel" > "Performance and Maintenance"* > "System" (double-click*) > "Hardware" > "Device Manager". 
  
  (b) Right-click on any of the Matrox "Multimedia Controllers" or "PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controllers", then click "Update Driver...". 
  
  (c) Click "Install the software from a specific location" > "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" > "Have Disk" and browse to the "mtxvw.inf" file. 
  
  (d) Restart your system for the changes to take effect.

- For advanced users: You can also upgrade the run-time software by copying the library modules (mtxvwd.dll, mtxvwm.sys and mtxvwcap.sys) into the "Windows\system32" directory.


Software limitations
====================

- Sample programs are only included with the LPX, VPX and PPX Software Development Kits (SDK).

- (LPX line limitation) Maximum one LPX-IN board.

- (LPX line limitation) Maximum one LPX-OUT4 board, eg maximum 4 displays on output wall.

- (VPX line limitation) Maximum two VPX-IN boards.

- (VPX line limitation) Maximum two VPX-OUT8 boards or four VPX-OUT4 boards, eg maximum 16 displays on output wall.

- (LPX & VPX line limitation) 1600x1200 RGB streams are not supported.

- (LPX & VPX line limitation) DVI RGB streams are not supported.

- The RGB input streams supported are: 
   - 640x480 ×60, 75, or 85Hz VESA
   - 800x600 ×60, 75, or 85Hz VESA
   - 1024x768 ×60, 75, or 85Hz VESA
   - 1280X1024 ×60, 75, or 85Hz VESA
   - 1600X1200 ×60, 75, or 85Hz VESA (PPX only)

- Only one instance of the Display Wall library may be used at the same time.


Known problems 
==============

The following problems may be fixed in upcoming software releases.

- No support for Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003.

- Installation and operation must be in Administrator mode.

- Desktop corruption can occur when coming back from [Ctrl][Alt][Del].

- Desktop corruption can occur when coming back from Power Management.

- Closing an Open GL application causes the Display Wall Driver to crash.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
