WHAT IS PROTECTOR SUITE 2009

Protector Suite 2009 is a desktop security and convenience product.
Its components provide an easy and convenient access to your computer, web pages, and sensitive files using a biometric device.
Installed components depend on the software version and licence used.

In case you are not using a full licensed version of Protector Suite 2009 all features may not be available or will be available only in a limited mode. When you access a feature that is not fully available in the limited version of Protector Suite 2009, you will be prompted to upgrade. Purchasing license for full version is possible directly from the Control Center.

INSTALLATION

Protector Suite 2009 installation is carried out by the Setup
wizard. It is recommended to read explaining texts in wizard
screens to avoid potential problems. The detailed description of
the installation procedure can be found in the user documentation.

Authentication hardware is installed together with the whole product.
If you use an external type of hardware, connect it after you install
the software part. You will be asked to do so after you reboot
the computer after installation and log on your computer. If any problems, drivers can be found in driver folder.

SILENT INSTALL

Silent installation of Protector Suite 2009 is also possible.

On Windows Vista and Windows 7, silent setup must be run from elevated Command prompt.

In the Install directory on your CD-ROM choose 32-bit or 64-bit version and run pshome.msi.
Use the following syntax:

msiexec.exe /i pshome.msi <PROPERTY=VALUE> /q

Example:
msiexec.exe /i pshome.msi INSTALLDIR="F:\Program Files\Protector Suite 2009" /q

You can specify the following properties:

INSTALLDIR
Installation directory

NOSAFE
Set to 1 if you do not want to install File Safe.

NOPP
Set to 1 if you do not want to install Password Bank.

NOAPPL
Set to 1 if you do not want to install Application Launcher.

NOEWAL
Set to 1 if you do not want to install E-Wallet.

NOSPG
Set to 1 if you do not want to install Strong Password Generator.

All properties are optional.

To uninstall, use /x instead of /i.

During standard uninstall with user interface, dialogs for selecting
whether to delete existing passports and disable the boot security feature are displayed. In silent uninstall, you can use the following properties:

DELPAS
Set DELPAS="1" to delete existing passports.

If these properties are not defined, or have any other value, passports are left on the computer. The boot security remains enabled. If you leave the boot security on, you will not be able to edit fingerprints in the boot security memory unless you re-install the Protector Suite.

Example:
msiexec.exe /x pshome.msi DELPAS="1" /q
uninstalls Protector Suite 2009, deletes all existing passports, and leaves the boot security on.

SMS INSTALL

SMS Installations are also supported. Open SMS Administrator Console, create a new package and set package properties in a standard way. Open the package and select New-Program in Programs item. To the command line field, enter

msiexec.exe /i pshome.msi /m yourmiffilename /q

Optionally, enter desired parameters as described in the Silent Install section. Setup normally reboots at the end of installation process. If you want to suppress all reboots during installation and reboot later (after installing more programs), add REBOOT="ReallySuppress" to the list of properties.

KNOWN PROBLEMS

My Safe to File Safe conversion and various antivirus programs
My Safe host files cannot be mounted when some antivirus
programs are on. This problem exists e.g. with Norton AntiVirus, or Sophos.
The solution is to set the antivirus program to ignore My Safe host files.
Scanning host files does not make sense due to the encrypted nature of
My Safe.
Excluding My Safe in Norton AntiVirus:
1. Open NAV Options dialog
2. Go to System | Exclusions. Add a new entry for *.fdp
   and enable Include subfolders checkbox.
3. Go to System | Auto Protect |File types to scan | Select extensions
    and add .fdp entry.
Excluding My Safe in Sophos:
1. Run Sophos AntiVirus "configuration center"
2. Select ICClient tab.
3. Choose Options | Configuration from the menu.
4. Choose Check tab and uncheck the Automatically detected as executable type checkbox.
5. Click OK.

File Safe Drag-and-drop (Copy-and-paste) on Vista
If you try to drag-and-drop (copy-and-paste) on Vista from File Safe into a folder under UAC protection, no elevation prompt is displayed and operation fails with "Access denied".
It is necessary to copy the file into a folder which you can access and then perform the copy operation in a standard way.

Standby Problem
Computer can be woken up from standby by a finger even if "Allow this device to bring PC out of standby" is unchecked. The driver is not able to turn remote wakeup off in situation when remote wakeup is disabled and selective suspend enabled in the device manager. Both check boxes must be unchecked for the correct behavior.

Unsupported installation bootstrapper on 64-bit Windows XP
If you are using 64bit XP, run pshome.msi manually as the exe bootstrapper is not supported.

Upgrade Problems
We recommend to export your passport for backup purposes before upgrading to the Protector Suite 2009 for Windows 7 (your passport may not be accessible in case that you were using enrollment to device or multifactor).

It is not possible to upgrade versions 5.4 and older, you will be prompted to unistall the application and install a new version.

When Protector Suite 2009 is installed in the Program Files folder and the content of Program Files folder on the system drive is mounted from another partition, some Protector Suite 2009 files will not be upgraded.
This is a problem of the installer which is trying to move the files from local
caches after reboot. As the file is in fact on a diffeent disk this fails. If another folder than Program Files is mounted and Protector Suite 2009 is installed there, this problem will not occur.

Application Launcher Problem
Applications launched by a finger are not always shown as topmost and in an active window.
This issue is not linked with Protector Suite 2009 and is caused by MS Windows architecture.
