Saber 2020 1035.4.0 Release Notes.

This is a release of both firmware and drivers. The drivers are still unsigned. We are adding an enhancement to the drivers and then signing them. For users of Vista 64 this is very significant. For most everyone else it is not. Vista 64 bit users should read the special instructions at the end. We would like to thank the army of volunteers who have helped us test this product. You have been very supportive.

As long as we have your attention, we would like to ask that all users who are getting input from a RF antenna to contact us. I am not referring to Analog Cable or Satellite TV, but a standard antenna like everyone used before the onset of Cable. Rabbit ears or a “Channel Master” on the roof. Please write to us at support@vistaview.tv.

The RF inputs remain as they did in the last update, which is swithced from the user manual. The correct connetions are RF2- TV (on top) , RF1-FM (on bottom).

Since the last install was so very complicated we decided to make this install easier. Our customers are all of above average intelligence and ability and should have no difficulty with the install process. If you have difficulty none the less, please contact us and we will help you. We don’t know how you slipped into our customer base, but we will be kind.

The install process is:

1)	Open up the installation zip into a directory.
2)	In the Saber 2020 v1035.4.0.zip file there is a driver update called Saber 2020_v1035.4.0.exe. Please run it.
3)	If the installation tells you “Nothing to Update” you must uninstall the old drivers and do this again. Uninstalling old drivers is described in the attached files which has been appropriately named “Uninstalling Saber 2020 Drivers.doc”
4)	Do a Hard Reboot. Power down, count to 5 and Power Up.
5)	Run the Saber2020_FirmwareUpdate14.exe file.
6)	If this fails, please check the device manager to see that the driver has installed correctly and has no exclamation marks of any color.
7)	Hard Reboot.

At this point you should be marveling at the wonderful Saber 2020 picture. Please post on your favorite forum how great the product is.

If you are having stuttering issues, please check if the firmware for your processor, and Video Card are the latest version. Almost always this has fixed the problem.

We have included English.zip in the release. This is a Microsoft patch that often helps with Synch issues. If your TV looks like a badly dubbed movie, try running this.

We have included a Problem Report form with the release. This is not because we think it has more problems than the past. Actually it has significantly less problems. We like to get these forms because it speeds things up. It has space for all the important information that we need to know, like which version of the OS, what driver, what application etc. Be as exact and as descriptive as you can.

If you are pleased with the product you can write us as well. We love getting fan mail. If we get some good ones we will open up a section on the web site to post them. By “good” I mean complementary and funny. If you can’t be funny, try and be very complementary. We are hopelessly vain and enjoy hearing how good we are. If you are extremely funny and not complementary, your letter will not be posted. We may be vain, but I like my job.

Vista 64 Users

As you probably know by now, Vista 64 enforces driver signing. These drivers are as of yet unsigned, so you must disable signing enforcement every time you reboot your computer. Without doing this you can not install the drivers, you can not update the firmware and you can not use the drivers. When you reboot, hit F8 and choose “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” . The device manager should show the drivers without any exclamation marks of any color. I am unsure of what advantages Vista 64 holds for you, but they must be great, because everything else about it is a real pain.

We will be signing the drivers and re-releasing them shortly. Shortly means in a week or two, but I do not want to be nailed down.
